How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Henman out - only two rounds of laying fun :-(

bakko - 23 Jun 2005 16:49 - 3685 of 10502

Biggest win for me thanks to henman once again. I never greened up and missed the chance when his opponent had 2 match points.

Henman... Please don't retire as a lot of us will be poorer without you!

bakko - 23 Jun 2005 16:51 - 3686 of 10502

Nadal crashes out too

Scripophilist - 23 Jun 2005 16:53 - 3687 of 10502

Fundamentalist - 23 Jun 2005 16:56 - 3688 of 10502

More to the point, can they please put the tennis and cricket on at different times - i just cant trade 3 sports (incl horses) at once on a single screen!!!!

Fundamentalist - 23 Jun 2005 18:08 - 3691 of 10502

Murray serving to go 2 sets up - looking to lay him if he does as he looks like he's starting to struggle physically

bakko - 23 Jun 2005 18:14 - 3692 of 10502

Scrip,
Received it yet? If not then will resend

kajman - 23 Jun 2005 18:17 - 3693 of 10502

I made a bit as well on Henman, :-)

Spent most of the day unwinding a nasty BB position, I had backed Derek for this week's eviction when a rumour started that he might walk out first. That would have cost me a packet. But the odds are reasonable again now and I'm green.

Scripophilist - 23 Jun 2005 18:23 - 3694 of 10502

Bakko, received.

Fundamentalist - 23 Jun 2005 18:45 - 3695 of 10502

didnt lay murray as i thought 1.3 was too big so took the dog for a walk instead - best value dog walk for a long time - got back in and its match point!!!

DocProc - 23 Jun 2005 18:57 - 3696 of 10502

Just had a 'no hurry' curry, whilst watching Murray. I would think that the way he played put him about 1m (at least) into his bank account.

Both the curry and Murray were excellent!

Murray?

Mint!

Henman is now history.

Scripophilist - 23 Jun 2005 18:58 - 3697 of 10502

You can see the headline in the Sun, Henman history as Magnificent Murray Marvels crowds.

Fundamentalist - 23 Jun 2005 19:08 - 3698 of 10502

England off to a shocker in the cricket - 6-2 after 5 overs chasing 266.

Aussies now 1.15 to win - mzy be some value in laying it

Scripophilist - 23 Jun 2005 19:09 - 3699 of 10502

Watch out for the thunderstorms tomorrow. One of my worst mare moments came when a storm cut the electricty to my house for a couple of hours. Then when it returned kept getting power surges and dips.

Fundamentalist - 23 Jun 2005 19:10 - 3700 of 10502

make that 6-3 and 1.06 the aussies

DocProc - 23 Jun 2005 19:54 - 3701 of 10502

"Watch out for the thunderstorms tomorrow." :-(

Don't remind me! We have tickets for the 'Abba lookalikes' outdoor picnic concert at Althorp Hall for tomorrow night.

Shall we eat before we go? Where are the raincapes stored? etc, etc.

Fingers crossed and all that.
