Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

hangon - 27 Jun 2016 10:55 - 3684 of 12628

IMHO this result has shown how out-of-touch Politicians are with their voters.

AND - can't we see that EU Policy is destroying money? Look at Greece, Italy, Spain/Portugal - the EU is likely to need more money to prop-up countries that should NEVER have joined IMHO. EU is going to get worse over time and early-leavers will bless their actions . . . It's not "IF" - rather "When" so our exit is a smart-move before the ship hits the rocks . . . the Market turmoil is the nasty-face of capitalism, which was expected.... esp. Banks and Housebuilders, I read.

It is a great shame that Prime Minister DC couldn't stay neutral and keep his powder dry, - but he may have thought he'd "won" Scotland -and- thought the same tactics would work again.
Whereas Scotland has enduring benefit ( English cash) to remain in the UK . . . the opposite is true for UK/EU, the two things "Wot done it" were, IMHO 1) Immigration and the rapid changes to our country. and 2) that money the EU receives and gives us back a fraction. Sure the Campaign-figures were not precise, but the point is true.
3) the imminent collapse of a defunct Politico.

I read that many countries with trade agreements with EU have agreed to "Free movement of People" - and examples were given like Canada. . . . . but somehow I don't think Canadians would agree to mass invasion - rather that historically very few folk want to settle in Canada ( Although they do have an excellent "introduction" programme which is geared to immigrants from Asia.).

The issue EU has is that Free-Movement is only workable when there isn't any!
As soon as a Country is "invaded" then EU-ideals fly out the window, as no country can sustain high-levels of native-dilution . . . . clearly (in my view), the EU conveniently ignored this possibility when it invented such a silly Policy.
The EU policy should be replaced by free-movement for . . . .

-and that I don't know.

Please don't raise the UK retirees in Spain - they are supporting many towns along the coast that would have near-zero Off-Season activity if the Retired community left . . . and I suggest these folks ( from mainland Europe too ), bring their own money to Spain, - they do not arrive in rubber-boats and demand Housing.

Interesting times . . . we shall see.

Not possıble but I wısh a lot on both sıdes wısh they could reset the clock. Labour and Tory.

Torıes to 1990 when they went down a path of destructıon.

Labour to 1994 and the sad demıse of John Smıth who I had some tıme for.

Whats been dıshed up sınce ın Westmınster ıs a washed up slıck from a tanker.

jimmy b - 27 Jun 2016 11:37 - 3687 of 12628

Blair still thinks mass immigration when he opened the door in 2004 was a great idea so you can forget Blair wishing to reset the clock , he's still happy with what he did.

MaxK - 27 Jun 2016 11:40 - 3688 of 12628

Who appointed Boris as final arbiter of any agreement?

We had a referendum, and the result was out, not some half way house that fixes nothing...out!

grannyboy - 27 Jun 2016 12:04 - 3689 of 12628

Nicole Sturgeon(SNP) will be sounding out the EU over the next few weeks,
on their options of staying in the EU, she'd better be prepared for some
disappointments, then she'll realise that its not in her or Scotlands favour
to seek independence(worse luck)..

What these immature youngsters have not clicked onto, with their 'the older
generation ruining their future' moaning, is let them take a look at those who
rule the corridors of power in Brussels..

And it looks like UKIP are not going anywhere, seeing as its looking, if
its left to the establishment parties there is going to be a stitch up, and its NOT
going to be in the favour of those who voted to LEAVE!!!!!...

jimmy b - 27 Jun 2016 12:24 - 3690 of 12628

Haystack said it would be the end of UKIP ,i think we will see them get much stronger now .Labour are in real trouble (especially in the North) and a large proportion of MP's are looking to have us over .

Claret Dragon - 27 Jun 2016 12:24 - 3691 of 12628

jımmy b. Many ın the Labour Party regret The Rıght Honourable member for Segdefıeld ever beıng a part of theır movement.

You are correct. 99% of the mess ıs at hıs doorstep from 1997 onwards.

Haystack - 27 Jun 2016 12:37 - 3692 of 12628

Hopefully, UKIP will fade away. There is no point to them.

jimmy b - 27 Jun 2016 12:43 - 3693 of 12628

Haystack do you really think that will happen ? i don't .

Haystack - 27 Jun 2016 12:53 - 3694 of 12628

It all depends on the trade talks. I think we will be in the single market on some basis and we will have free movement of people in some form as the price. A new trade deal will be signed and that will be that. UKIP can call for another referendum but it will be in vain. UKIP are a spent force. They won't have anything to do with the negotiations. It will be a cross party group of Labour and Conservatives. Even Boris said that he likes immigration. It doesn't matter what Farage promised during the referendum as he is not an MP and has no real say. He wasn't even part of the official Leave campaign. Farage may have helped get a referendum, but Boris won it.

Resignation #22: Maria Eagle Follows Twin Sister Out The Door

Fred1new - 27 Jun 2016 12:57 - 3696 of 12628

And the tories have had 6 years to correct the mistakes.

Look what they have achieved.

Fragmented society.

Fragmented tory party.

Fragmented economy.

Fragmented pound.

Fragmented international policies.

Fragmented relations with nearest countries.

Shall I go on?

And haze as the party propagandist.

Must be busy and PHQ.

Resignations #23 and #24: Susan Elan Jones And Kate Green

iturama - 27 Jun 2016 13:17 - 3698 of 12628

All the anti-Corbyn MPs should not turn up for PMQs. Empty rows behind him will emphasise the problem, if he needs reminding. Fact is that he doesn't care. His is a movement not a party. He has taken the party over. Only solution is to persuade more moderates to join the party, or form another. Or give him an umbrella jab. ;)

The other one that needs an umbrella jab is Junky. They say be careful what you wish for and Merkel must now realise what a mistake she made. The man is a walking disaster, the focus of what everyone dislikes about the EU.

Fred1new - 27 Jun 2016 13:26 - 3699 of 12628

I see Osborne has come out of hidings and is looking around for the remnants of his failed party.

Make a good con party leader.

Haystack - 27 Jun 2016 13:30 - 3700 of 12628

He is not even a movement, he is a cult.

Do you remember Life of Brian? He is the Messiah!

UK Will Have A New PM By September 2, Says Tory 1922 Committee

Nominations open Wednesday, close Thursday.

iturama - 27 Jun 2016 13:47 - 3702 of 12628

Fatty Thornberry, having mastered all defence matters, has now been promoted to foreign affairs while hippo Abbott is responsible for health. Maybe they should put their fat heads together and bugger off to a Swiss health clinic and lose some weight. They are no use here.

Fred1new - 27 Jun 2016 13:56 - 3703 of 12628

It seems a lot of you are terrified of Corbyn.

Is it because he comes over to the public as honest in comparison with Boris, yesterday's men Osborne and Cameron?

Seems a little like the toxic press which has bought out the Con party.
