But surely most investors are only on board because they think that the price will go up. Surely that's nothing more than pure greed in itself.

And if those same investors weren't so happy to lend their stock in the first instance, then the hedge funds wouldn't be able to sell it short.

My sweet sunflowerit is not greedy to invest in a company in the hopes of making moneyit is greedy not to invest in a company in the hopes to make money!
