New Favourites functionality for the Bulletin Boards

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2008 11:58

We have implemented a favourites facility, which enables you to create a list of your favourite threads, so that you can easily view them without having to search back through the other threads.

You will notice towards the left hand side of each thread title there is a grey star icon. To add a thread to your favourites, simply click on this and it will turn gold. You can select as many threads as you want, and then to view them simply click on the orange Display Favourites Only button towards the top left of the bulletin boards.

If you are viewing a thread that you want to add to your favourites, you will notice a grey star next to the thread title on the first post - again just click on this and it will be added to your favourites.

I rest my case -):

ExecLine - 03 Dec 2008 09:48 - 38 of 71

If I were to think of just one person to give my whole pot to, just to look after it safely for a while, I know for a fact who it would be and have known who it would be for years.

The guy is a car dealer.

However, I would NOT buy a car from him. Neither would I sell him a car of mine.

His job was to sell a car at the best possible price. Similarly, his job was also to buy a car at the best possible price. He is ruthless. He is open. He is so full of common sense, he is almost unbelievable. He has other qualities too. One of them being the amount of effort he puts into his research on things.

The quality, which he has that I like, is that he wants to share his knowledge with you and help you benefit from it and his experiences. This is what gives him the 'big buzz'. It's surely no surprise to you I'm sure, when I tell you he is a multi-millionaire.

If I were to let him do for me as I have suggested above, I dare bet I'd get more back from him than I gave him in the first place. He would get such a buzz from the trust I'd placed in him.

This man has more common sense than 100 people added together.

Ruth - 03 Dec 2008 10:08 - 39 of 71

Execline, is he married;-)
The quality i look for in a man isnt brains, his brain is of no relevance/ interest to me,
common sense and trust are;-)

Fred1new - 03 Dec 2008 10:15 - 40 of 71

Ruth, If you had a Tazer gun, you would probably shoot your self in the foot, and blame someone else.

Ruth - 03 Dec 2008 10:41 - 41 of 71

Fred, firstly there is no way i would shoot myself in the foot unless i was sat down while firing, as i have 2 large obstructions in the way,i cant see my feet when stood up so the chances of shooting myself in the foot are very slim;-)

Secondly, you should know by now,as most of our argumrents revolve around this very issue,my pet hate is people blaming others for their own mistakes/actions ,so think you can safely say i certainly wouldnt try and fob the blame onto anyone other than myself!

Anyway getting back to the original topic, the function of this new favourites thingie , i think its a good idea, some great old threads on here,

Stan - 03 Dec 2008 12:16 - 42 of 71

Ian,

I'm a bit puzzled (and not for the 1st time where computer technicalities are concerned )-:

Someone makes a suggestion which gets "actioned" very quickly which is great, but we have the following which I think are far more important for Trading Shares and they have still not been dealt with. The Priorities seems a bit astray.

"Outstanding bugs:

Lag in HTML stockwatch

Issue with icons on safari borwser launching from stockwatch

Issues with delay in chart

Flashing of non changing MM quotes on SEAQ stocks

Directional arrows on level 2 not showing

Incorrect news articles due to same epic code from different exchanges"

How come the 6 above are still not fixed?

Number 2, I find particularly annoying.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 03 Dec 2008 12:20 - 43 of 71

Stan,

A number of these are being worked on as we speak - this has been implemented as it was literally an hours worth of work - no resources were taken from any area which would have an impact on any other work we were doing,

Stan - 03 Dec 2008 12:22 - 44 of 71

Thanks Ian, it's good to get to try and understand the thinking behind these things.

KEAYDIAN - 03 Dec 2008 12:48 - 45 of 71

Can we get back to Ruth's obstructions please :O)

Fred1new - 03 Dec 2008 13:18 - 46 of 71

Can we just obstruct Ruth. 8-)

I have a daughter named Ruth. (O, Ruthless One)

Never had the same problems with her and she is older than the Rochdale terrier.

Plateman - 03 Dec 2008 19:29 - 47 of 71

Ian, any comment on my post 16, or didn't you understand it?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Dec 2008 07:00 - 48 of 71

Plateman,

Sorry I missed your post - in essence that button is designed to take you back to the main thread list. I will speak to Juraj about possibly adding another button which would take you back to your favourites.

Ian

Plateman - 04 Dec 2008 08:55 - 49 of 71

Thanks Ian, I would certainly prefer to remain within my favourites list until I make a deliberate move back to the main list.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Dec 2008 08:56 - 50 of 71

Plateman,

It seems like a good suggestion to me - I have handed it to the techies to take a look at adding an additional button to give you the choice - I will let you know what they say,

Ian

Jonathan - 04 Dec 2008 09:03 - 51 of 71

I have no favourites chosen, however when I click 'view favourites' I see the sticky thread at the top. This would seem to be a bug.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Dec 2008 09:06 - 52 of 71

Jonathan,

Yep, Juraj is aware of this and will be working on it,

Ian

Jonathan - 04 Dec 2008 10:16 - 53 of 71

How about having it auto-favourite any thread you start?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Dec 2008 10:17 - 54 of 71

Jonathan,

A good idea - we will take a look in due course,

Ian

MightyMicro - 04 Dec 2008 19:58 - 55 of 71

Jon,

when I click 'view favourites' I see the sticky thread at the top

If de management want to make their sticky threads your favourites, then that's the way it is, capiche?

:)

Jonathan - 05 Dec 2008 07:05 - 56 of 71

MM,

Having shared an office with Bullshare for best part of 6 years, I'd rather not go anywhere near his favourite 'sticky threads' *shudder*

Jonathan.
