ADAM,
Thanks for all your effort, but I've just told Orange to come and collect the bloody thing. I'm going back to a Nokia.

Good move, my brother did exactly that yesterday. Swapped his D500 for the new Nokia 8800. He had three of them, all with problems.
If you liked the feel of the Samsung, the 6111 is very similar.

Iain,
Most of the latest PC's would do that. I would go for an Intel machine rather than AMD on this on as they handle editing packages better. (Other than that I always recommend AMD). Most top of the range PC's will come with CD/DVD writers.
Either of these Dells would be fine:
Precision 670 and 380
For the switch I use on of these. You can find these cheaper on Ebay.

Hi guys.I have a 2.8 processor...1024 ram....160 gb drive and XP.A few weeks ago i was messing about and ran CWShredder. It came up with all this stuff so silly me deleted all the files which i assumed were dodgy.A couple of hours later when i tried to go online i couldn't connect.I'm on broadband with AOL.
Despite hours talking to AOL support...no joy.So i bought another PC....its not easy following my shares with no pc lol.Well there was no line fault as the new pc got me online with no probs,so i guess i buggered something up with CWShredder.
I was thinking of wiping my hard disc and starting again, but i guess that also wipes the operating system too.Would i have to buy Windows XP.
Any help would be appreciated...seems a shame to dump a good pc.Rick.

SM,
Did you buy the PC from a shop?
If so you should have a Certificate of Authenticity on the side with the XP product key number.
Also you should have got a system restore disk, which you place in the disk drive and hit restart and it will return your PC to the exact state that you bought it.

Adam its a "Time" pc about 2 yrs old....there is the windows XP product code on the side. The only disc i got from Time is a system and driver CD,which i don't think is the same as a system restore CD.Cheers mate. Rick.

In which case you need to borrow a copy of XP. With XP you just chuck it in and hit restart and will ask you if you wish to install. When it asks for you code put in yours. You need to make sure that the XP version is the same as yours, i.e. XP Prop or Home Edition as your code will only work for the same version.
You will then need to use the Time disk to update the drivers.

I can't get Safari to work with Terminal. Firefox works OK, Netscape does not work either.
Using G5, Tiger and Safari 2.0.1.

spacemoggy,
Entering a different CD Key to the one on the CD as ADAM suggests can lead to subsequent problems installing service packs. You're probably better off using the same CD Key as on the installation CD and then cracking the WPA and WGA. You can buy WPA cracks on eBay for 1 or 2.

Got a problem. Remember I know little about computers!
I'm with AOL. I have two computers, and a router. At first they worked fine - always on. Now neither computer will allow me to connect to broadband unless I'm logged on to aol. Since I can't log on to aol on both computers at the same time I can't have them both on the net together. I used to be able to do it, though. I need cmc on the spare, because it slows everything up.
AOL are no use - they say they can provide full support information on only a few routers and my model, a D-Link, is not one of them. It's obviously aol doing something, though. I want to change ISP at the next opportunity, though my computer man has aol, and the same router, and has no problems.
