Suth,
If you do not have any discs I would try to make reinstalling XP a last restort as you will then need to update all the drivers for the laptop (sound, video, keyboard etc) It could be a long process and never operate in the sameway again. I have experience of a dell once that used speedstep technology, which never properly worked after I reinstalled XP.
What is actually wrong with it now?

I downloaded Norton antispam version 2005 and since then I cannot access the internet or disable or remove Norton. I get 2 messages one saying a component is missing and the next a component is missing or damaged. The Norton screens don't display fully and I can't switch it off. AOL logon reports an issue with virsus firewall and internet explorer says this page cannot be displayed.

Oh, your still in that mess, I thought you may have made some progress. I have never liked AOL for this very reason.
Have you tried removing Norton in Safe mode? By hitting F8 on the XP window.

You need software that's something like this:
Make your own MP3 files from Audio CD

Mega,
You can use the rip function of Media Player (certainly version 10) to rip the music from CD and then turn into MP3 format.
Also checkout
xilisoft.com for file conversion utilities and
limewire.com for downloading MP3's.

Still no joy with this heap of crap called a mp3 player, have tried most things but to no avail,is this a common problem or just me ????
Have i got to format this thing or what?? It sees the player as drive I and it puts a file in the name of the source file but does not appear to transfer !!!
Oh well looks like it could well go back :-(

Rick, could it similar to the way XP copies files to CD's i.e. it prepares the files to write but doesn't write them to the player until you give an extra command?

I have had endless dropped connections from my adsl via plus.com and voyager105 modem today. Every 5 minutes. It is driving me mad and I phoned them twice for help. Told me to check my filters etc etc
Then I found Priscilla and used her driver fix and so far I have been on line for 5 minutes and fingers crossed. Oh 6 minutes. Priscilla I have looked evrywhere on the net for an answer and it looks as though it might be here on this thread. 7 minutes and counting. I could hug you

Rich,
This is Proview UK:
http://www.proview.co.uk/index2.htm
The Global site doesn't seem to stock AC adapters for TFT screens.
Here is a list of AOC distributers in the UK:
http://www.aoc-europe.com/distr_uk_popup_test1.html
Good luck.
(PS There is always Ebay, just plug in the part number)

Rich, you can get mains adaptors that have variable outputs and an array of separate plugs to plug in the back
Try
Maplin
then type "Mains adaptors" into the search box.

The cheapest solution is likely to be to buy a variable output one as SC says. Definitely buy one that is 'regulated' (it means the voltage supplied does not vary in relation to the current drawn). Make absolutely sure that you have the voltage and polarity set correctly before connecting up, and once it works put a spot of superglue on the setting mechanism so that there is no chance of it moving by accident.
