How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 12:59 - 3765 of 10502

Ancic been broken again

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 13:11 - 3766 of 10502

Gasquet breaks early in second set and im stopped out (in profit though)

tempted to lay lopez vs ancic - any thoughts or am i on my own here?

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 13:21 - 3767 of 10502

Ancic 2 sets down - amazed the price is still 1.29 for lopez to win - was going to lay but expected approx 1.1

cant believe ancic would win from 2 sets down more than 1 in 4

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 13:22 - 3768 of 10502

backed lopez at 1.31 with a tight stop

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 13:27 - 3769 of 10502

Lopez breaks first game of set and im green at 1.1 :-)

kernow - 27 Jun 2005 13:40 - 3770 of 10502

Completely screwed up this one now back tracking hence slightly green Lopez, very red Ancic.

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 13:55 - 3771 of 10502

Kernow

lopez 2 breaks up and serving for the match

kernow - 27 Jun 2005 13:57 - 3772 of 10502

Phew! Well done Lopez

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 14:05 - 3773 of 10502

Nalbandian now 2 sets up vs Gasquet

time to revisit my stop loss policy and see if it is set too tight

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 14:14 - 3774 of 10502

The way Nalbandian is demolishing Gasquet makes you realise just how well Murray played!!

bakko - 27 Jun 2005 14:22 - 3775 of 10502

Afternoon All,

Been frantically trading myself out of a crappy position over the last hour or so, hence the silence. Got to a small profitable position as long as Nalbandian wins so come on Bandy!

Backed Gasquet at the beginning - big mistake.

bakko - 27 Jun 2005 14:27 - 3776 of 10502

Match to Bandy!

What a relief!!

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 14:31 - 3777 of 10502

Bak

why did you back gasquet - because murray should have beaten nalbandian?? if that game hadnt happened i would have expected it to be approx 2.0 each player hence gasquet looked very short to me (nalbandian has a very good record at wimbledon)

bakko - 27 Jun 2005 15:00 - 3778 of 10502

Steve,

I think I got carried away with the odds having found out that Gas't were originally way out but shortened quite quickly.

In a nutshell - a balls up. But managed to rescue a potentially very dire situation.

I've laid Williams, Downside very limited probably little chance of a bounce but looking for one.

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 15:08 - 3780 of 10502

Scrip

Fundamentalist - 27 Jun 2005 15:09 - 3781 of 10502

Scrip

Scripophilist - 27 Jun 2005 15:50 - 3782 of 10502

Got the spike I was looking for. Brilliant. Just sent an order in with a trailing stop and walked away. I'm really getting to like Tennis.

I fancy some money on Tursunov now as well.
