THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

i can't be bothered to waste the time and effort
clearly you have nothing better to do

the advertising dictum of "less in more" has a great deal to commend it

Jewish Soup Kitchen
as mentioned in an earlier post, and merely an interesting comment in the light of today's discussion ...

the Soup Kitchen in Brune Street (near Brick Lane) in East London, was erected by the Jewish community in 1902 to provide charitable support for Jewish immigrants to the area. The facility closed in the early 1990's as more and more of the original Jewish residents died or moved. The charity gave free food to elderly Jewish residents of the area

===============

perhaps one could impishly add that, in the light of the above, the assorted Christian communities and churches could now do a great deal more to help their own, instead of just berating the gov't

Do you mean Clem Atlee's Socialist government did nothing to help the middle and working classes of the UK.

The most reforming government of the last century and the reforms possibly prevented turmoil.

Manuel,

You would make the perfect client for a homeopathic medicine man. Try one when you have a heart attack.

I know this government is retrogressive, but returning to your childhood would probably be to much for even them.

Government to accept proposed 3% minimum wage rise

David Cameron pledges to restore value of minimum wage and agrees rise to £6.50 should take place in October

Rowena Mason and agencies

theguardian.com, Tuesday 4 March 2014 16.02 GMT

David Cameron has confirmed the government will accept recommendations for a 3% rise in the minimum wage and has pledged to "restore its value" in the longer term.

The prime minister said he agreed that a rise to £6.50 should take place this October, in line with the advice of the Low Pay Commission, and after George Osborne said he ultimately wanted it to rise to £7.

Speaking in Coventry on Tuesday, Cameron said: "Restoring the value of the minimum wage is a vital part of how we secure a recovery for all, with economic security for every working family in Britain … So yes, I look forward to accepting this recommendation."

I do think that The USA for all its good intentions should not have allowed individual states to legalize certain drugs...cannabis etc....this drug blows your mind.....not straight away but after regular use...and the changes to brain changes peoples personalities effecting thinking, reasoning and general behaviour.
The states (Colorado is one of them) that are allowing this are also putting at risk other surrounding states even they have chosen a different path for their citizens....very selfish.....
There is no way that the United States should allow individual states to decide their own way of controlling this plague because there are fifty of them.....and there are bound to be a certain percentage of states that will make the wrong decision.
Drugs need to be harnessed in a sensible way....the addictions are terrible and should drugs for a patient be needed : only a doctor should prescribe them.
Uncle Sam is setting a very bad example....
