THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Was Russian invasion real or a hype?

Russia denies involvement. Does it mean that the media was behind this?

Obviously, it was unreal. It was hype. Any fool knows that. If not, how do you account for the following March 5th, 2014, update?

Labour Point Finger at Llewellyn

cos.jpg?w=480&h=393

Following Guido’s story this morning that Patrick Rock was subject to a second sexual harassment complaint from a junior Downing Street staffer, Labour have written to Cabinet Secretary Jeremy Heywood asking:

In total how many sexual harassment allegations have been made against Mr Rock, on what dates were they made, and in each case how were they dealt with and what was the outcome?
Was there a formal process for dealing with the sexual harassment allegations against Mr Rock, and what was the involvement of the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Ed Llewellyn, in that process?
What other officials were involved? In your judgement, is it right for a political appointee to handle a sexual harassment complaint made by an official about another political appointee?
Firming up Labour sources this morning taking aim at Cameron’s chief of staff and Rock’s close friend, Ed Llewellyn. Don’t expect a reply any time soon…

One's posh and out of touch, another a weak idiot and the third a liar... just who could the voters be talking about?

Men and women asked to name a word or phrase about three party leaders

Prime Minister David Cameron is seen as posh, out of touch and smug

Labour leader Ed Miliband is a weak idiot, and women said 'slimy'

Lib Dem Nick Clegg viewed as weak, useless, untrustworthy and a liar

Voters think David Cameron is ‘posh and out of touch’, Ed Miliband is a ‘weak idiot’ and Nick Clegg is a ‘spineless liar’, according to a survey.

A major poll by former Tory Chairman Lord Ashcroft reveals that most of the electorate have little good to say about the country’s top politicians.

The unflattering assessments emerged after voters were asked for the first word or phrase that came to mind when they thought of the main party leaders.

effects of immigration
i don't know if any of you chaps brought up the strangely contradictory reports that seem to be around
however, if any of you have been paying attention, did i hear correctly that certainly one of the reports was based on non-eu members immigration?
if i heard correctly, then it indicates to me that the whole of that report, whichever it is, is somewhat suspect

Fred1new - 05 Mar 2014 17:48 - 37777 of 81564

I would like to know what your friend is trying to hide by not releasing the "information".

Think it would be wise to check the page numbers when it is released.

fossy - THAT report says that increased immigration has had negligible effect on uk unemployment, whereas the OTHER report said something very different ...... but what interests me far more is if what i think i heard was indeed so, as that is very relevant indeed

surely you know, or if not you, then someone else here

PS - the reports didn't quite compare apples with apples anyway, as they were over different time periods or somesuch

Haystack - 05 Mar 2014 18:47 - 37781 of 81564

Galloway also works for Press TV which is from Iran .

Immigration report 'held back by Downing Street'
Downing Street accused of suppressing a report that shows that immigrants take fewer jobs away from British workers than previously claimed by Theresa May, the Home Secretary

By Keith Perry8:00AM GMT 05 Mar 2014

Downing Street has been accused of suppressing a report which found that immigrants are not preventing as many British workers from getting jobs as previously claimed.
Theresa May, the Home Secretary, has repeatedly cited research by the Migration Advisory Committee that found 23 British workers are left unemployed for every 100 new arrivals.
But a study by civil servants has concluded that the 'displacement' figure is actually much lower, according to the BBC's Newsnight programme.
The report was apparently completed last year but has not been released amid concerns it could prove politically awkward for ministers.

The disclosures will prove embarrassing for Mrs May and come as figures showed that David Cameron’s pledge to reduce net migration to below 100,000 people a year by 2015 is unlikely to be met.

Internal emails seen by Newsnight showed that one civil servant described the MAC research used by Mrs May was "not robust enough given the wider evidence".
Critics accused Mr Cameron of failing to publish the report because it would challenge Mrs May’s claims.

Julian Huppert, the Liberal Democrat MP, said: "It's obvious that this report should be published as quickly as possible.

"We have to have the right figures, so we can make the right decisions, so that we get the best people here to help our economy."
Nigel Farage, the Ukip leader, said: “I don’t know what the new figure is going to be but whatever it is, the report is going to show that there is displacement of British workers because of excess oversupply in the labour market caused by open-door immigration to southern and eastern Europe.
“What we really need to see is what the displacement of UK workers’ jobs from the European Union is because that is the issue.”
David Hanson, the shadow immigration minister, said: "The British people should have information made available to them so they can make a judgement about the impact of immigration on jobs.
"This should be done on the basis of fact, not more empty rhetoric or spin from the Government."

A Government spokesperson said: “Reducing immigration so our economy delivers for people who want to work hard and play by the rules is part of our long-term economic plan to build a stronger, more competitive economy and secure a better future for Britain. We don’t comment on internal government documents.”

Is it not true aswel that Camoron as suppressed details of what had happend to his close aide and friend MR Rock, known as Rock Hard to his fellow aides working on the task of child porn security on the net.

MaxK - 05 Mar 2014 19:36 - 37784 of 81564

So, if immigrants are not taking the jobs, who is?

Thinks you cant believe daylight out of any of the mainstream party's.

goldfinger - 05 Mar 2014 19:49 - 37785 of 81564

Thats just it, hit the nail on the head Max, thier arent any jobs, just 6 month training courses where trainees (tories call them apprentices)are taken of unemployment figures and transfered to employed figures (you couldnt make it up) and then when finished are pushed on another 6 month course or get a sanction and starve.
