How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Well that doesn't seem to suggest that Derek has been nominated.

Cheers sealed.

kajman, just a bit behind on my email.

Kayak - 28 Jun 2005 10:54 - 3812 of 10502

Maxwell is lengthening again on the evictions market. It could be just profit taking. Up to now there's been no sign of a leak.

Kayak - 28 Jun 2005 11:07 - 3813 of 10502

Ah no, it was just some speculation on Digital Spy that Maxwell might not be up.

Fundamentalist - 28 Jun 2005 14:42 - 3814 of 10502

Just noticed that tonight is the first evening without racing (except sundays) for a while

Scripophilist - 28 Jun 2005 14:46 - 3815 of 10502

Chance to nip off to the pub then! :)

I laid Sharapova today so I need to celebrate ;)

Kayak - 28 Jun 2005 15:04 - 3816 of 10502

Maxwell is drifting and Vanessa coming in, ahead of the nominations announcement...

Fundamentalist - 28 Jun 2005 15:05 - 3817 of 10502

I wish

been caught twice on the racing so far today so having a down day

the last one the horse was beaten until the one in front stumbled badly and all but threw the jockey off

Scripophilist - 28 Jun 2005 15:15 - 3818 of 10502

Tell me about it. I was on the opposing side. Thought I'd got away with it then it stumbled and my loss came in!

kajman - 28 Jun 2005 17:22 - 3819 of 10502

I didn't manage to unload Derek completely today. Taking a small loss, unless he gets nominated which seems unlikely now.

Afternoon All,

Men's QF today. Not much value in backing Fed or Roddick. Missed out on Hewitt but some smart money seems to have gone on Nalbandian. Been watching the odds over the last 2 days. Bandy's odds have shortened from 1.73/74 to 1.67/68 whereas no change on others.

Johannson is the oldest in the qf line up and has surprised many by getting so far. Today will be a much tougher game against a better opponent.

Scripophilist - 29 Jun 2005 14:26 - 3821 of 10502

I was mulling laying Federer for the match and backing him for the tournament. If there is a shock in the other qtrs then his price would come in a fair bit. If he wins then his price will come in anyhow.

bakko - 29 Jun 2005 14:51 - 3822 of 10502

It was interesting that all 4 of the favourites in yesterday's QFs came through in straight sets. You could slap on an amount, switch off, come back a couple of hours later and you're account would be better off! No need to trade at all!

I see that Fed and Hewitt are cruising at the moment.

Scripophilist - 29 Jun 2005 15:23 - 3823 of 10502

Horses are poor again today.

bakko - 29 Jun 2005 15:40 - 3824 of 10502

Tennis isn't good either as no play due to rain

Fundamentalist - 29 Jun 2005 15:42 - 3825 of 10502
