ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Asos shares fall after sales disappoint
By Jennifer Thompson
Shares in Asos fell more than 11 per cent after full-year sales at the online fashion retailer came in below analysts’ expectations, contributing to concerns that growth would slow.

Sales rose 46 per cent to £495m in the twelve months to March 31, lower than a consensus forecast of £505m. UK sales rose 7 per cent to £197.9m in the period.

Shares in Asos were down 11.08 per cent to £14.20 in midday London trading.

Fourth-quarter sales, excluding postage and packaging, rose by about a third to £124.2m, prompting concern from analysts that this could foreshadow a longer-term trend of slowing sales.

“They’re defined by a top line outperformance,” John Stevenson, analyst at Peel Hunt, said. “The market is looking for overall sales growth of 40 per cent next year, so is the fourth quarter a blip or is there a risk it will fall short of expectations going forward?”

The UK is still Asos’s core market, accounting for about 40 per cent of full-year sales. However, countries outside the US and Europea are the fastest-growing, with sales up 185 per cent to £136.8m for the year.

Nick Robertson, chief executive, said: “I am pleased to report a strong fourth-quarter performance for both our UK and international businesses.”

He added that pre-tax profit for the year to March 31 would be in line with expectations. The consensus estimate is £40.48m.

Asos has websites in the UK and several other European countries, the US and Australia, and ships to more than 190 countries where it does not have a local online presence.

While historically it has launched country-specific sites, it is developing a single web platform on which the same content can be rolled-out in different alphabets, such as Russian and Chinese, which will become operational next year.

Revenue from international sales represented 62 per cent of the group total at the end of the period, up from more than half last year.

I have 250,000 with an average price of 7.93p. I will certainly be holding until at least results day.

cynic - 26 Apr 2012 16:40 - 3836 of 5941

i can't think at what price i'ld actually marry money with mouth ..... i cannot see anything good in uk mid-price retail - it's been vile for the last 2/3 years - notwithstanding that ASC have a large overseas clientele .... also, i do not think their product quality is very good

i suppose 1200 may be worth contemplating, though i shan't

tomasz - 26 Apr 2012 17:31 - 3837 of 5941

Not many people know this but I am a far relation of tomasz who taught me all the tricks. For example I traded as follows:
bot 5000 asc in 2005 at £1 p/s
doubled up in 2007 at £2 p/s
did same again in 2010 at £ 6 p/s
liquidated all in 2011 at £24 p/s
got back in in Dec last year at £13 p/s
liquidated this position in Feb 2012 at £ 18 p/s
lol
btw my redecorated bedsit looks great now
