THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

yes very interesting goldie, one question , if SBs were taxed the same as CFD which would be the cheapest ?

aldwickk - 20 Mar 2014 22:15 - 38577 of 81564

Years ago i used traded options , one way i tried was using stock i held to lend out to option traders [ can't remember what it was called ] and if the price of my share's stayed about the same price then i kept the option money on them ..... think that is how it worked.

goldfinger - 20 Mar 2014 22:41 - 38578 of 81564

Alders pluses and minuses for both its not so quite clear cut as you put it.

I have in my files somewhere a good article.

Ill try and find it.

Are you watching Question Time??????????????.

If so Ill get back to you tonight.

cheers.

goldfinger - 20 Mar 2014 22:47 - 38579 of 81564

Here we are Alders should help you plus read the replys underneath.

I tend to go for about 60/40 on SBets, it all depends on your personal circumstances.

ptholden - 20 Mar 2014 23:18 - 38580 of 81564

oh dear, Labour have fielded a political pygmy on QT tonight.

So far he's refused to confirm if he will rebel over HS2, resorted to 'chip on t'shoulder' class name calling (gold finger will have been pounding the table with glee at this juncture) and suggesting that the we should all boycott the World Cup in 2018 as appropriate retaliation for invading another sovereign country (Scotland of course won't have to worry about boycotting anything as they don't really have a football team).

MaxK - 20 Mar 2014 23:54 - 38581 of 81564

QT also had a "teacher" who purports to spend 60% of her time doing admin/ticking boxes etc.

Now I know it's all the tories fault, but 60%?

goldfinger - 21 Mar 2014 00:49 - 38582 of 81564

A teachers contracted hours were as follows when I was with Kirklees Council LMS Education Dept... It was the same all over the country and I still think it is.

32.5 hours per week.

SPLIT

27.5 hours teaching time in the classroom

5 hours non- contact time in the staff room...............................................

I think that teacher on QT said she did 60 hours per week

20 hours in the class room.

40 hours filling in forms and ticking papers.

Must admit all that form filling sounds well over the top but lets not forget plenty of people on the staff working in the Private Sector are contracted do a 38 hour week but end up doing sometimes double that with no overtime paid. Retail and Distribution management, Local Authority workers springs to mind. Their are many others. (usualy dont have Unions)

So teachers arent the only ones who work well over their contracted hours for no pay. In fact they are lucky that they can take work home and do it in the comfourts of their own home. Others cannot.

But I think her main point was that the 40 hours filling in forms was a waste and some of it should have been working in the classroom. She was blaming education reform.

Nice one GF on your SB post. You can be a nice guy now and again :O)

goldfinger - 21 Mar 2014 08:58 - 38584 of 81564

Im always nice Chris, its just one person on some threads who as an agenda against me (for agreeing with another poster HERE on certain subjects, not all) distorting my profile and character.

In fact a character assassination one which would say is akin to being trolled. And we all know who that is dont we!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fred1new - 21 Mar 2014 09:00 - 38585 of 81564

GF.

Thank you for the information regarding your trading.

Interesting.

Have to admit to reducing stakes and widening stops and watching a lot more than dabbling.

-------------

I thought the only panellist on QT with "sense" was Val McDermid. It was otherwise the usual party mantras and Andy Burnham for an intelligent man comes over to me as wishy washy.

=====

and "This Week" I do wish Andrew would shut up sometimes and giggles bag would sit on a different couch.

Liam Halligan was interesting slant on Russian intentions!

But I do wonder why I watch it.

by YouGov in Politics
Fri March 21, 2014 6 a.m. GMT

Latest YouGov / The Sun results 20th March - Con 34%, Lab 39%, LD 10%, UKIP 10%;

Haystack - 21 Mar 2014 09:18 - 38588 of 81564

Of course the Labour party loves the poor and unemployed.

Why else would they have created so many of them?

Fred1new - 21 Mar 2014 09:18 - 38589 of 81564

I realised last night why Porky enthused about the new pound.

It was because he had heard of coin clipping of gold "coins" and was collecting all the offcuts of the present £1 piece debasing its value.

Somebody tell him they are no longer made of gold.

goldfinger - 21 Mar 2014 09:21 - 38590 of 81564

Yep thats the problem labour lead at a constant 5% to 6% all the time.

Thats going to be a lot harder to overturn than some think getting nearer to the election.

Gone are the days of big leads for either of the 2 major partys, both are fighting for the same middle ground and even tho its Bullingdon Boys V Brown Owl boys neither will veer away from that sacred middle ground and back to the extremes of yester year.

MaxK - 21 Mar 2014 09:21 - 38591 of 81564

Are we heading for a new big bang?
