THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Neil Kinnock's son selected as Labour candidate for Aberavon

Stephen Kinnock, who is married to Danish prime minister Helle Thoring-Schmidt, will stand at the 2015 general election

theguardian.com, Saturday 22 March 2014 19.50 GMT

The son of former Labour leader Neil Kinnock has been selected as a Labour candidate at the 2015 general election.

Stephen Kinnock, 44, who is married to Danish Prime Minister Helle Thoring-Schmidt, was chosen yesterday as the official Labour candidate for Aberavon, in Wales

If elected in the safe Labour seat in the 2015 general election, he will join his mother, Glenys, and father in the Houses of Parliament, where they are respectively Lady Kinnock of Holyhead and Lord Kinnock of Bedwellty in the County of Gwent.

Despite his marriage to Thoring-Schmidt, Kinnock is based in London and works for the business advisory company Xynteo. He has previously worked for the British Council and the World Economic Forum.

Thorning-Schmidt is not planning to stand down as Danish prime minister. She recently told a Danish newspaper: "I do admit it is unusual, but we have lived an unusual life in many ways and we always make it work.

She most recently received publicity in the UK when she was shown taking a "selfie" photograph sitting alongside Barack Obama and David Cameron at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in South Africa.

Hywel Francis, the current MP for Aberavon, announced last November his intention to step down in 2015 from the seat, which the first Labour prime minister, Ramsay MacDonald, once held.

If you are using Chrome do the following as already suggested on another site:

It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As on another thread, if the "Video ad" is being a nuisance and you are using Chrome down load Adblock and then silence is golden again.

OK, did some research into this and found the following solution. For IE, go to 'Tools' - 'Manage add-ons' - click 'Tracking Protection' then in the pane below click 'Get a Tracking Protection list online' In the page that opens I selected the second entry down 'EasyPrivacy' by clicking the 'Add' button next to it. Make sure it it then enabled in the 'Manage Add-ons' entry list.
That will zap the add box completely and peace and quiet will resume.
Hope this helps. I imagine a similar fix can be used for google Chrome. If I get time I'll look into it.

I did a bit of research for 'Google Chrome' users and came up with this:
In Chrome to the right of the address bar click the 'Customize' button then select the 'Settings' option then click on 'Extensions' on the left side. - Click 'Get more extensions' There is an app called 'Adblock Plus' which claims to zap annoying ads. Presumably if you install that it will do a similar job. I don't use Chrome so haven't tried it myself. Hope this helps
