THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Hmmm? I'm not so sure the callers from these outfits go away so easily.

Quite often you pick up the phone on an 'international call' and there is no one there. The line has been tested out with a robotic call. If a salesperson is available to talk to you then he/she is put through and if there isn't it's you who will hang up. Their calling overheads are very low and it's just a numbers game with names and numbers on purchased massive mailing lists.

I reckon we get about 1.2 such calls per day on average. Most days none. Occasionally two.

Yesterday, I did a 'Just a minute......' and got my dog to bark down the portable phone by holding it's collar and taking it with me and ringing the doorbell. The guy was 'asian' and said he was investigating as to whether I qualified for a 'government loan'.

Mostly, if it's an 'international call' we just use an 'up and down action' with the phone and its charger cradle.

Will they rescue this guy in time? Hmmm?

Fred1new - 26 Mar 2014 10:19 - 38868 of 81564

Why not say "very interesting hold on for a minute" and get on with whatever you are doing.

Replacing the phone after 20 mins.

Or even more simple B. off.

The falling ratings of Miliband are looking similar to what was called the 'Kinnock effect' where Labour were on track to win the election and they lost to Major. The loss was put down to the lack of appeal of Neil Kinnock as PM.

Haystack - 26 Mar 2014 14:27 - 38870 of 81564

Miliband has praised the launch of the British Kebab magazine and this year’s associated British Kebab Awards,

This new-found love of Turkey’s national dish will come as a surprise to Ed’s old classmate Kevin Mustafa, who the future Labour leader allegedly abused as a “Turkish b*stard” back at school. Kevin famously told the Mail in 2011:

“We did not agree on something and I belittled him and dismissed him as if what he said was a stupid comment. In retaliation, he lashed out with verbal abuse. He called me a Turkish b*stard so I hit him. I gave my reasons as to why I did it but was dismissed and I was suspended for three days. He was not a friend of mine but we sat in the same class. Although he was no better than us he had quite a high opinion of himself. He tried to come across as if he was more intelligent. Most of the time we let it pass but I lost my rag that day.”

074045 call numbers are not mobile calls but Wi fi numbers and there is a costly conection fee

Haystack - 26 Mar 2014 15:26 - 38872 of 81564

Further research reveals the problem is with T-Mobile. They have had a long running dispute with Lycomobile going back to 2010. If you complain they generally credit the cost. is just a mobile number the 07404 series is allocated to Lycomobile operator.

Goldie

Fred1new - 26 Mar 2014 15:35 - 38874 of 81564

Hazy One.

Wait until the media and tory sycophants turn on Toady Cameron and Porky before, or when the lose the next elections.

They will be scathing of a loser.

aldwickk - 26 Mar 2014 15:38 - 38875 of 81564

Hays

Lycomobile is in distbute with T mobile i think , so they charge you a costly connection fee as if it was Wi fi

cynic - 26 Mar 2014 16:27 - 38876 of 81564

fred - i don't think anyone of any party is particularly enamoured with their particular party leader ...... whoever loses will no doubt be given the choice of either hemlock or falling on his sword

jimmy b - 26 Mar 2014 16:28 - 38877 of 81564

Weak Ponces the lot of them !!!!!

cynic - 26 Mar 2014 16:30 - 38878 of 81564

not far from the mark
i think there may be a couple of potential decent candidates in labour's ranks, but the tories look bereft of of real talent, unless (s)he's hiding under a bushel

jimmy b - 26 Mar 2014 16:35 - 38879 of 81564

Adam Afriyie, tory, sounds like a nice guy ,grew up on a council estate in Peckham and made all his own money ,he's intelligent too.

Haystack - 26 Mar 2014 16:43 - 38880 of 81564

The book arrived. I am reading it at the moment. I know of the author already. He writes for Haaretz and I have seen him on TV a few times.

goldfinger - 26 Mar 2014 16:56 - 38881 of 81564

cynic - 26 Mar 2014 17:03 - 38882 of 81564

that's certainly the chap hays, but it's worth reading right to the end before commenting
i found it very interesting indeed and it taught me lots of things about israel which i never knew
did it change my view of that country?
can't say that it did, but as you probably recollect, i am no zionist nor even a supporter of israeli charities ..... but nor do i share your view either, if i remember it correctly :-)

RIGHT MESSAGE FOR MANUEL....................

Not one mention to Hays today clogging up the thread with political gestures at Ed Milliband. Hes been at it all day but not a peep from you. Check all the posts.

Now if that had been me or Fred having a go at Fat Dave youd have been on here saying and complaing both of us were on our soap boxes messing up the thread.

I was right yesterday as long as it suits your agenda politicaly you think thats ok but woe betide if it goes against your political agenda.

Right gloves off no listening to you anymore no more two faced clap trap to listen to, the individual sets the debate at anyone time on here and you can tell Hays rent boy Chris Carson that goes for him aswel on here.
