Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

The wire news quite clearly states core CPI excludes food, energy and tobbaco and alcohol.............................and we already knew it excluded mortgage charges.
Tell hays to get updated research.

sticky - do me and everyone else a favour and read post 38898 re CPI .... the polite comment to you should be "you are badly mistaken" ..... only mortgage costs are (i think) excluded as they go into the RPI calc............................ends

And in fact I have further evidence the items I mentioned are included in RPI rather than CPI here........
Table 1: High level RPI weights since 1987
RPI GROUP 1987 1992 1997 2002 2007 2012 2013
Food 167 . 152 . 136 . 114 . 105 . 114 116
Catering 46 . 47 . 49 . 52 . 47 . 47 47
Alcohol 76 . 80 . 80 . 68 . 66 . 56 61
Tobacco 38 . 36 . 34 . 31 . 29 . 29 30
Housing 157 . 172 . 1861

you, you're downright aggressive!
i have no problem at all in apologising, and i fully concur that it's absolutely nuts to exclude those key items even from "core CPI" whatever that may be, though perhaps it is the RPI we should be more concerned with, which apparently does include those items
by the way, orange juice and lemonade at lunchtime with no ice :-) .... and nor did i post or even allude or link muppets to CPI

I made a comment about the Battle of the Muppets. It was made about the Clegg vs Farage debate this evening..
What a pair of muppets they were. Nothing sensible said by either.

Muppets?
maybe, but at least they had the bottle to fight it out on live tv, unlike the other two.
anyway, opinion says Farage won it by a whisker.
Call me Dave and the lesser spotted Millibandus will not be queueing up for a big one, cos either of the two tonight would wipe the floor with the pair of them.
