jj50 - 28 May 2004 13:06 - 40 of 56

DD No, decided not sell MKS at the moment - other interest than Philip Green will probably surface and Green is going to have his firm offer in by the end of next week, so shall wait and see.

vasey - 28 May 2004 13:08 - 41 of 56

I'm also holding my MKS. Just looked at the chart and think there could be more than one interested party once one person makes a formal announcement.

zarif - 28 May 2004 13:09 - 42 of 56

Lw : My thinking is along the same lines as you that it will pop and drop. Also I personally would not like to hold say large positions over the long weekend with all this oil, crude, gas, terror alerts etc.thats my opinion and as u say the market can do anything and be right and with the yanks never know what is going to happen.

stockbunny - 28 May 2004 16:23 - 43 of 56

Decision time looms...broker shuts at 4.30....
Unless MKS does something amazing in the next 10 minutes
I'm going to hold until Tuesday and prolong the tension!! (lol)

stockbunny - 28 May 2004 16:28 - 44 of 56

OK decision made - I'm still 'in' for Tuesday on MKS!!

vasey - 28 May 2004 16:36 - 45 of 56

amazing auction on MKS 1,654,100 sells v 272,995 buys......but if there's another interested party over the weekend........

stockbunny - 28 May 2004 16:39 - 46 of 56

It has been totally mad today on MKS or at least it feels as if
it has been!!!

Martini - 28 May 2004 16:40 - 47 of 56

Dratt dratt and double dratt. Looks like Splat did me on 4425 in LWs FTSE100 competition barring a big change in CA!
Will try to do a rambling wrap later if I stay sober. Dont stay for it you wont miss much.
Have a great weekend and bank holiday all.

stockbunny - 28 May 2004 16:42 - 48 of 56

Have a good one Martini!!

jj50 - 28 May 2004 16:44 - 49 of 56

Bad luck on the FTSE comp Martini. I am holding MKS over the week-end too bunny so we shall sink or swim together on that one! The Gerards woman on Working Lunch reckoned there would be other interest and worth holding.......we shall see. Have a good week-end everybody.

stockbunny - 28 May 2004 16:46 - 50 of 56

Have a great weekend too JJ and whatever happens we'll float
up or down the river together !! (lol)

Martini - 28 May 2004 17:43 - 51 of 56

I have been struggling today to know how to wrap up this week and then I read the Greystone column by Alan English on ADVFN.

With his permission I repost it here as he does it so much better than I.

A Week Overshadowed By Sadness (29/05/04)

David Anderson

This is, without doubt, the most difficult and the saddest week that I have ever had to report on.

A great BBer passed away this week. David Anderson (Crocodile) died in his sleep on the night of Monday 24th May. I am sad beyond expression.

David represented the very best in a whole era in the history of private investing. He also represented the very best in human nature. He was never happier than when he was helping someone out. A genuine "helpaholic"!

The Crocodile name is synonymous with all of the most positive things that the financial Bulletin Boards produce.

I first had the pleasure of meeting David in the very early days of BBs and internet-based financial systems when we were all struggling to get to grips with the new environment that appeared to offer us endless opportunities but also presented us with a million hurdles to climb. Crocodile immediately set out to make it easier for us all to understand this brave new world and went out of his way to make sure that we all benefited from his expertise.

In latter years, I watched David many times giving his presentations on the intricacies of such things as Level Two data and was in awe of the skill he applied and the infectious enthusiasm he brought to each occasion. No-one was better at recognising what was going on in the market than Croc.

On a social level, David brought joy to any occasion. If you were ever fortunate enough to spend any time in his company, you will know just how much fun he was and how he would always emerge as the centre piece. Everyone had a question for him and he always made time to find an answer. A real gentleman.

I'm sure David will always be remembered with great love and respect. His passing has left a huge void that will be difficult, if not impossible, to fill. It is a sad week. For us all.

God bless you David. I am proud to say that I knew you.

Greystone

There are threads of condolence running on every Bulletin Board you care to visit. It is a measure of Crocodile's love of what he did and his enthusiasm for helping people that he is mourned so widely by so many. Reading through the threads, you will see the same words and sentiments repeated over and over. A "lovely man". A "real giver". A "thoroughly nice guy". A "snappy and gentlemanly trader". "A true trader in every sense of the word and a great loss to us all." He gave "freely and generously of his time and expertise."

To represent the feelings of us all, I would like to quote from a couple of messages from BBers who I know, like me, had known David for a long time.

From ExecLine:-
"Our Croc was so very charming and professional and always conducted his business in a way whereby he always put much more in than he expected to take out."

From Gausie:-
"There are few who have helped so many people to work towards their dreams and ambitions. I've spoken to so many people and they all tell of how Croc made them feel special - not only by freely helping them with whatever they needed, but also by actually making time for them. How can one man make so much time for so many people in one short lifetime?"

I think that sums up very well the great esteem in which David will always be held.

There are threads of condolence running on both the Premium BB and on the Free BB where Fenec found a perfect photograph on Crocs own site (www.snappytrader.com) to open with. An image that shows David how he was happiest; surrounded by computer screens flashing out market data. His true legacy is the profusion of private individuals who have been touched by him and, in that way, have been turned into better people as well as better investors. Davids work lives on in us all. (If you wish to leave a personal message, please feel happy to do so. When the time is appropriate, copies of the threads will be sent to David's family to let them see just how big and important an influence he was on so many lives.)

The thoughts and prayers of the entire BB community go out to David's family in this most difficult time for them.

In lieu of my Poster of the Week prize, this week I will be making a donation to the Georgina Ward of The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust in response to the wishes of David Anderson's family. I know how close to their hearts this is.

Martini,

A fitting post to finish with, thank you for your considerable efforts this week in keeping the thread going in memory of Croc, its what he would have wanted and for that we are grateful.

superrod - 28 May 2004 18:08 - 53 of 56

a great post matini( courtesy of Greystone )

i do wonder sometimes though how many posters have met their maker in a given period. there are many on this and other bbs conspicuous by their absence. whether capitulation or other reasons, who knows?

croc was only a year older than me and in the prime of his life.......i still feel like i did when i was 18 but this dreadfully sad news has made me think VERY seriously about my lifestlye

ABSOLUTELELY NO INFERRENCES INTENDED TO DAVID.

i look at my 8 children now and appreciate what i have, not what i WANT.......because ive realised i already have it

Golddog - 28 May 2004 19:30 - 54 of 56

Just an update on the Cafe investment game that finished today.......Yes i do not believe it myself but poochy managed to pull it off and stay at the top to win with a decent 105,844.68. Hightone not far behind and stayed in the exclusive 100k club, and This is me came in third playing very well during the Game.
Hilary never showed any threat but i think she was just giving us a bit of a chance this time (she will always be the Queen of Trading), and the wonderful Gianni came in last (You win a free Bods!)

The Best performing Investor Woman goes to the Sweet Bunny with her M&S investment beating off little woman in the last day or so - well done.

Gianni who is full of good heart promised 100 to the winners designated charity but with the recent sad happenings to Croc it is only fair that this money should go to Crocs family and for them to decide where the money can go to. Thankyou Gianni for such kindness.

Martini - 28 May 2004 19:40 - 55 of 56

Indeed GD - thank you Gianni
