MoneyAM Problems?

bhunt1910 - 20 Apr 2005 07:51

I am getting a lot of "URL not found messages all over my AM screen. Is this a Money AM problem - or something at my end ???

I am still getting the main screens - I first noticed it last night

McPaulass,

It sounds like AOL's caches were causing problems.

Try using IE rather than AOL's browser, alternatively, switch to an ADSL provider that provides a direct service rather than a cached one.

Di & Paul

Although I have been gettung the URL messages - it has not effected any of the actual services provided by AM - so I have been able to watch stock prices and read investors threads etc etc with no problem.

Yes I am broadband with AOL. - I have had no problems connecting to any other site at all

Not sure that helps.

I did connect to AM via IE - and that seemd ok

Dear Baza,

Many thanks for your message. We like you have been able to watch the stock prices and services by AM. Also no problems with other sites other than our online Broker. Have been in touch with AOL for the last 3 hours, trying to sort out problems, NO LUCK Tried to get on IE more problems. What a day.
Looks like we shall now have to set our IE explorer, fingers crossed. We both need a stiff drink, absolutely worn out. Regards. Paul and Di...

Get yourselves a proper ISP chaps, AOL are the pits...

bhunt1910 - 21 Apr 2005 08:13 - 43 of 83

Ian just to let you know that I have exactly the same problems when I go into AM via IE.

I have deleted all temp files before logging in via IE

It starts of ok - then I get the URL message.

However when I switch to (say) the investors screen - it is ok for a while.

Kayak - why do u say AOL is crap - I have been on AOL for 5 years and am generally pretty pleased with it !

Ian, Just to let you know we have the same problems as Baza. Regards. Di and Paul

bhunt1910, McPaulass,

The problem is with AOL's system and there is nothing that we can do about it :(

Jonathan, Thank you for replying, spent 3 hours yesterday with the technical department of AOL, but unfortunately they couldn't resolve the problem. Regards Di and Paul

i am also getting problem...IE says its connecting to stream (stock watch)...headings appear...but no stock prices etc...same in the trades section

mordor,

this may be down to a firewall issue - can you make sure you have Java enabled within your firewall. Also if you have Avast webshield installed on your PC I know that this can sometimes cause a conflict,

Regards

nothing has changed since tuesday...all was well then !! but not today ....

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Apr 2005 10:01 - 51 of 83

mordor,

An automatic update could have run - can you try disbaling momentarily the things I have mentioned above and try to access then (remember to re enable afterwards)

JimmyB how comforting it is read that someone else doesn't know how to clear temporary files. Does anyone know how to get "market maker to market make".

The URL problems are continuing - it does not matter whether I access MoneyAM direct from IE or AOL - I get the same problems. Not all of the UR:s are missing - as I flick from one screen to another some are their and some are not - seems fairly random.

All were present intitially on the home page - when I accessed another page - some were missing - when I returned to the home page - some were also missing - but some were present - on both AOL and IE !!

I think I have cracked it

Regardless of whether or not I go into AM via IE or AOL - the problem is the same.

On entry - there is no problem - all the URLs are displayed.

However as soon as I go to another screen - say stockwatch - then return to the oridinal page - then the URLs get lost. Almost as though the addresses are being disabled when the screens are switched. Hope that helps?

bhunt1910,

I am 90% certain that it's a problem with your provider AOL as it's only AOL customers that are continuing to see this behaviour.

No matter which browser you use, AOL or IE, you are still using the same connection - AOL.

Unfortunately there's nothing that we can do until AOL sorts itself out.

If you *really* want to see our adverts, would you like me to create a page, just for you, with all our current adverts on it? :-)

Dear Ian, Johnathan, and Baza.

We are very pleased to report everything is back to normal on AM and our on-line broker. Some days ago AOL asked us to UPGRADE OUR BROADBAND, which we did, it is possible this was the trouble?, because on Wed evening one of the things we got their technical department to do was take of this upgrade. This could have taken a day to sort itself out and it seems we are now OK. Did you upgrade Baza? It could be just a coincidence but it is a thought. Anyhow thank you for all your support trying to sort it out for us. It was appreciated.

Fingers crossed, it will stay OK. Kind regards. Paul and Di.

Kayak - 22 Apr 2005 11:15 - 57 of 83

bhunt, the problem with AOL is that it is not a basic internet connection, they provide you a load of stuff on top which can and does cause problems. E.g. the transparent cache which most ISPs don't have (with broadband it is there just for their own benefit), their own browser, etc. McPaulass's comment in the preceding post is a classic: "upgrade their broadband"... with other ISPs there is nothing to break and need upgrading, broadband is just a physical link. It is only because AOL install all their stuff that it needs to be upgraded.

bhunt1910 - 25 Apr 2005 10:26 - 58 of 83

Thanks to all for advice over problem - I have finally been able to resolve the problem.

At the end of the day I simply had to go into the AOL system information Tools and clear the browser cache. If anyone needs detail info - I can send instruction
