27 Hole G0LF EVENT - Thursday 8th June 2006 (G0LF)

markusantonius - 14 Feb 2006 21:35

* M0NEY-AM G0LF DAY EVENT: 27 HOLES, INCL. SUSTENANCE & PRIZES (IN ADDITION TO M0NEY-AM SPONSORED PRIZES!) on: -
THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *

So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -

* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.

(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)

Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Still took the money off PTH on Friday! Some of you have my no. so an 08:30 alarm call would be most welcomed on Thursday morning!

Checked - and so far, only Messrs. Robson and Rutherford are booked into the Hotel for Thursday evening - Tom (Brock123), you are not booked in apparently so presume you are now sorted re: accomodation? If not, you need to make a call swiftly, sir! I have asked them to keep a room open for you as long as possible. Any problems, contact me a.s.a.p..

ptholden - 03 Jun 2006 18:26 - 392 of 505

After today's Medal will be back to 16.1, although hitting the ball much better today, a 2 stroke penalty for playing my partner's ball didn't help matters though, particularly as I parred the hole without the penalty!!

Markus' recently sustained shoulder injury is not looking (or feeling!) good at this moment :o( :o(

EWRobson - 05 Jun 2006 18:08 - 396 of 505

Sunday: lovely day. Perspiration. Richard Slatter Memorial Day shot-gun start. Groupings arranged at last moment: playing with Guy Day, 5 and Richard and Ross, juniors, both 6. Very long hitters. Demoralised. nett 84. But hooray! Up to 20.5 so get extra shot for 5th Major!

Monday: still pleasant. Inspiration. Vets Championship Stableford. Two under after 11; then, disaster, two blobs and a one to be 3 over. But finish with 3 3-pointers (including extra shot from yesterday) and a two. 36 points. 2nd! But boo! Down to 20.1 so back to 20 for the 5th Major. Consolation - paired with the Shark, which don't complain about injuries, just bite off the opposition!

Eric

fliper - 05 Jun 2006 19:48 - 397 of 505

markusantonius

Handicap still 19.5.

I have decided not to stayovernight and have advised the hotel accordingly.

My wife has agreed to drive me there and back, so she would like to attend the dinner.

Finally, is there a dress code for the dinner?

Brock

markusantonius - 06 Jun 2006 01:22 - 400 of 505

OK, Brock123, just thought I would double-check as I was told that only Eric and David were booked in - didn't want you to have to slum it under a bus shelter, that's all! I will pose the question re: an extra dinner place for your wife tomorrow. It may be too late although there is sometimes a Carvery on? But no guarantees. BTW just the evening dinner or everything else, i.e. same as us (minus the golf)?
Wish you'd have told me this earlier, Tom!

Dress code: -
Golfing trousers or taylored shorts & white stockings on course +
Smart/casual in the Clubhouse for Tea/Coffee + Lunch +
Collar & tie for the evening meal (but if it's hot and humid: b****x to wearing a jacket!).

IanT(MoneyAM) - 06 Jun 2006 07:31 - 401 of 505

Mark,

Just to let you know, the courier let me down yesterday, so I will re organise today for delivery of the trophy to the address you supplied me .

Ian

BROCK123 - 06 Jun 2006 09:33 - 402 of 505

Wife will only require dinner in the evening. She will do here own thing for the rest of the day.

Thanks

Tom

fliper - 06 Jun 2006 14:41 - 403 of 505

Markus , thursdays temp will be 25 , do we need collar and tie ? will smart non golfing shirt be ok ( no tie )

markusantonius - 06 Jun 2006 14:48 - 404 of 505

Fliper, Up until the Evening Dinner we will be OK in smart/casual, yes. However, from past experience (Club matches, etc.), I think jacket & tie will be expected of us. Maybe we should all assume the above and I will double-check, in the meantime.....?

Thought girls wear 'stockings', usually attached to suspenders, although who knows what you get up to in the privacy of your golf course Markus?

Think I'll stick to socks :-)

The courier has delivered the Prize parcel, a few minutes ago - and having just ogled the beautiful Claret Jug and Medals, let's just say that I may even hit the Driving Range tonight after my Club Medal and get to bed early, this evening!

Splendid effort, IanT!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 07 Jun 2006 11:16 - 409 of 505

Mark,

No problem - glad it has arrived safely.
