MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Gotta be. Buys almost exactly equal to sells.

goldfinger - 22 Feb 2005 10:51 - 392 of 2444

Yup but if you have a good look at the markets theres a lot of red about and this one being a high beta will always fall more than the average and vise versa on good days. I think it will move back up, and theres no reason to panic.

cheers GF.

Price getting better now and buyers returning.

cheers GF. PS, just one of those days, not company specific.

Goldfinger I bought a second larger stake in this one when it was at its recent high,, im not unduly worried at present, but could you explain why this should fall more than the average,?? Thanks ,, JB....

andysmith - 22 Feb 2005 13:13 - 395 of 2444

jimmyb, my experience with this one is that in between news it falls and these are ideal buying opportunities. I have bought between 63p and 71p and at times it has been teetering at 50-55p it then surges to 80p and comes back to a new support level. The new level yet to be established IMO but it will be higher than last year and should be above 100p. When the next news comes out watch it fly again and another support level be formed. I may top-up once I get a feel for new support level but long-term you will not be disappointed with this, just lose some hair at times.

Thanks andy iv bought and sold this once but paid in the 120s this time so im hoping for some good news soon,,Jb ..

andysmith - 22 Feb 2005 13:21 - 397 of 2444

I bought some at 81p once and thought paid too much when it fell back to 60p.When it came back this year above 100p I sold these ones for something else on expectation might fall back to 80p!!! Although this shows my numptyness should give you some confidence that this is rising. The 81p ones were a top-up for me though and I am happy with my current holding. IF it does fall to 100-110p, buy some more and on next news if it goes above 130p you can always sell your first lot or keep them all.

I am in the same boat as you Jimmy after paying 1.26 but am not worried at the moment .Goldfinger and Mitzy have a lot of faith in this one and i`m sure they will be the first to let us know if we should bail out of this one.

rob308 - 22 Feb 2005 19:21 - 403 of 2444

I have mentioned before that mmg does track the ftse but with exaggerated swings.

In my opinion there is no other reason for today's slip other then simply the market maliase of today............. very good buying opportunity!

I would have increased my holding but got into Cobra Bio. this a.m instead.

I have not tracked the market today but looking at the mmg trades it was gaining strength throughout the afternoon, even when the DOW & NASDAQ where opening down.

I think we may creep up again tomorrow by one or two %.

Good luck.. Rob

rob308 - 22 Feb 2005 19:29 - 404 of 2444

take a look at the 1 year chart guys, see what has happened of late after a slip.....

mitzy - 22 Feb 2005 20:48 - 405 of 2444

Dow down 150 points and the FTSE down 30 points so not a good day overall and as Rob says MMG does indeed track the Ftse but they managed to recover slightly in the afternoon again tracking the Ftse..hold on.

Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the results is expected by March 2005.
Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.
Watch this space.

After hours trading on the NAZ was up, with some big Tech heavyweights giving strong news. Might not be as bad in the morning as some were predicting this afternoon.

cheers GF.

Dont sell off, the markets getting a shock taste of reality. There will be a bounce in the US.

cheers GF.

mitzy - 23 Feb 2005 10:58 - 409 of 2444

Its a general market thing and the MM's are taking advantage of the situation..there short and looking to buy back at lower levels(isnt everybody) but try not to fall into their trap.Holding up quite well considering.

goldfinger - 23 Feb 2005 11:20 - 410 of 2444

Yes I agree Mitzy. This just came out from Killik brokers might be a good idea to paste it around........................................

Sentiment in the near term appears to have turned with active profit taking in the second liners after a terrific run to the start of the year. How far things will come back is the obvious key question but so far, it does not appear as if too much stock is coming out and this feels more like a healthy correction rather than something more significant.

cheers GF.
