Sterling on the substitutes bench because he's feeling a bit weary! How old is he ?

skinny - 13 Oct 2014 09:59 - 3923 of 6918

I didn't watch the game - Raheem Sterling may be ‘tired’ but he still finds time to stretch legs

Chris Carson - 13 Oct 2014 10:00 - 3924 of 6918

19yrs old. Seems ridiculous but who knows what is going on behind the scenes, maybe Brendon Rogers has had a word to the effect fxxk England, Liverpool FC pay your wages and look what happened to Sturridge? Stinks!

Can't imagine the likes of Alan Ball etc saying to Alf Ramsay "drop me I'm knackered" LOL!

Chris Carson - 13 Oct 2014 10:05 - 3925 of 6918

And lets be honest Mickey Mouse replacing Henderson would have made an impact! :0)

You called!

Being discussed on Talk Sport as we speak.

Sterling is of obvious slight build. He is not a big guy. For instance, he wouldn't be much good at what is generally considered to be a typically good 'centre half'.

Objectively therefore, he must lack comparative strength in certain areas and it would not be surprising for him to become fatigued. It all depends on what happens in a particular match and how much work he has had to do in it - and also, as to whether he was fully recovered from the efforts of his last match.

skinny - 13 Oct 2014 10:11 - 3929 of 6918

Or with his girlfriend the previous night!

ExecLine - 13 Oct 2014 10:13 - 3930 of 6918

As in 'throughout the previous night'.

Chris Carson - 13 Oct 2014 10:16 - 3931 of 6918

Bollocks Exec, he is a professional footballer. He is paid to play for LFC.

ExecLine - 13 Oct 2014 10:23 - 3932 of 6918

Bollocks to you Carson. Don't be so offensive! :-)

You don't know what Sterling was doing the night before the match. Neither, if it was likely to have a negative impact, do you know how long he was doing it for either.

Did you read about it in a tabloid?

We are all entitled to pass an opinion without it being trashed by others and with obscenites. FFS!

skinny - 13 Oct 2014 10:25 - 3933 of 6918

Are you suggesting that :-

"She Offered Her Honour. He Honoured Her Offer. And All Night Long It Was Honour And Offer!"

Chris Carson - 13 Oct 2014 10:33 - 3934 of 6918

:0) I'm sorry Exec, just saying it as it is! Playing for England is not the honour it once was fact! The players earn obscene amounts of money and thanks to Sky, Premiership clubs live and die by staying in it. Managers are judged by the performance of the team, ask David Moyes.

doodlebug4 - 13 Oct 2014 11:31 - 3935 of 6918

You would have thought that he would have been gagging to play for his country. Gareth Bale played in the second half for Wales with a niggling back injury and he worked his socks off.

I really can't understand why professional footballers complain about fatigue when you compare the demands on tennis player's levels of fitness.

ExecLine - 13 Oct 2014 11:46 - 3936 of 6918

Accepted, Chris.

Sterling's mindset might also be connected to his Liverpool responsibilities and their recent (ups and) downs.

Chris Carson - 13 Oct 2014 11:49 - 3937 of 6918

Exec - Sad but true.

required field - 13 Oct 2014 20:10 - 3938 of 6918

Could be the night when little Iceland surprise mighty Holland....

Dil - 14 Oct 2014 10:09 - 3939 of 6918

Good call rf and the captain of Iceland is a bluebird !

I got to agree with Chris re Sterling . does feck all but train to play football then can't manage 2 games in 3 days or put another way 2 games in 2 fecking weeks !

He shouldn't be anywhere near the England squad if it's true but I'm not so sure it is.

Dil - 14 Oct 2014 10:15 - 3940 of 6918

And who would believe it Wales top of their group and we've only really got two players (Bale and Ramsey) and Ramsey is out injured.

We'll still cock it up though.

doodlebug4 - 14 Oct 2014 14:32 - 3941 of 6918

I've watched Wales a lot Dil, mostly because I'm a Bale fan and I don't think you will cock it up. It was a great team effort last night especially in the second half when they were down to 10 men and you could see how much it meant to the team when the final whistle went.

Scotland have a tough job tonight.
