Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Just to bring everyone down to earth for a moment, on another BB, one of the crew coming off the rig at changeover was asked if there was any kind of news, to which he replied that he didn't know & didn't care as he had no investment in the company, but was just doing the job to earn a wage like everybody else.
If only he knew....................!

watcher - 11 Mar 2010 15:23 - 3925 of 6492

like that rings true.....i am on a rig....drilling for oil.....and i dont care if we strike

if your in......your in

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 15:30 - 3926 of 6492

they work extremely hard on these rigs and i dare say the guy was too damn tired to answer ..... and certainly not impossible that the crew are under strictest instructions to divulge nothing

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 16:05 - 3927 of 6492

L2 now looking very interesting .....

12,000 bid for at 95.25
below that, 140,000 at 92.0

on the other side there are
5,000 on offer at 96.5
and the next offered are 10,000 at 101.0

markymar - 11 Mar 2010 16:10 - 3928 of 6492

5 V 1 so its going to creep up...a few more buys will get her up to 98p,all the MM backed off to 98p as well.

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 16:23 - 3929 of 6492

sorry - i was talking balls yet again

Balerboy - 11 Mar 2010 18:16 - 3930 of 6492

bit like this share.....no balls!!

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 18:38 - 3931 of 6492

had 'em cut off as got fed up with them being kicked

hlyeo98 - 11 Mar 2010 19:27 - 3932 of 6492

Sell DES at all costs... it will be sinking like the Titanic!

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 19:51 - 3933 of 6492

and what do you know that no one else does, or are you merely shouting the odds because oil exploration always has longer odds than 50/50?

by the way, have you shorted this stock?
if so, and by the way you write, i assume you have risked your house, please confirm including how much

btw, no pathetic excuse that you don't have a shorting facility, because that's bollocks

watcher - 11 Mar 2010 20:17 - 3934 of 6492

why would anyone sell these babies without confirmation of no oil......no oil at all....which means all the other options have proved to be no go.....we all know how long that will take.....and what the DES men think about those options....and the technical data and the cost of the rig......a few shots at the target yet....(including the first)....might be the first round or the last.....but the only way is to watch

HARRYCAT - 11 Mar 2010 20:36 - 3935 of 6492

hlyeo, that's a bit of a shocker even for you! Suspect that was fuelled by alcohol during Liverpool defeat! Blatant de-ramping is for other BB's (mentioning no names).

cynic - 11 Mar 2010 22:14 - 3936 of 6492

it's not deramping .... it was just a load of rubbish written without any kind of supporting thought or logic .... not responding to my post pretty much sums it up

Topped up for the last time until drilling update...plus a small spread...risky but 6 months for it to come right....

HARRYCAT - 12 Mar 2010 12:07 - 3939 of 6492

RKH might be a slightly safer play atm, as it will drop on a DES duster, but recover quickly as potential still there for their drilling campaign.

cynic - 12 Mar 2010 12:19 - 3940 of 6492

i can see no way in which RKH or any other of these falklands oilies can be safer than DES - safer being very much a relative word ..... where DES goes, so will the others for it is DES that will control sentiment across the board until such a time as the others start or at least get close to their own spudding.

HARRYCAT - 12 Mar 2010 12:24 - 3941 of 6492

Of course, but a DES duster would be a fait accompli for them, but would only affect temporary sentiment in others as punters would still expect results elsewhere, imo.

required field - 12 Mar 2010 12:31 - 3942 of 6492

Topped up in Rockhopper as well.....less downside....and in the event of a strike even with a small ownership percentage will rocket just like DES.....6 wells to come.....must hit something by christmas...change that to : must hope they hit something by christmas....

cynic - 12 Mar 2010 12:52 - 3943 of 6492

am i not right in thinking that drilling started about 20th feb? ..... that being so, surely news not really expected until mid next week at the very earliest?
