Seadog,

Just so you know (you probably do so forgive me is that is the case) it is not a streaming screen, so you will need to refresh it to see any changes. I am looking at your account now to see if I can see it change - I will report back,

Ian

Seadog,

Seems to be fine here - just watched your account and saw movement on the 3rd stock you hold - upon refresh,

Ian

One of mine does not change every 15 minutes ,and i have been skipping between sites .Actually it doesn't matter so long as you know where you are at the end of each day.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 10:02 - 398 of 550

jimmy,

I will take a look at your account to see if I can replicate this,

Ian

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 10:05 - 400 of 550

jimmy,

It would also appear that the MM's have not changed their quote on either of your positions since 9.07am and 9.14am respectively,

Ian

SEADOG - 25 Oct 2005 10:06 - 401 of 550

Ian,
Sorry, I did not know you had to refresh the screen to get the changes............SD

hewittalan6 - 25 Oct 2005 10:07 - 402 of 550

The quotes were;" I don't think thats possible" and "That would be illegal in Kentucky after sunset on a Friday". They were reading the Kama Sutra at the time.

jimmy b - 25 Oct 2005 10:08 - 403 of 550

It was stuck 5p below the current bid Ian,, not to worry i know how to do it now, just refresh..

jimmy b - 25 Oct 2005 14:47 - 405 of 550

I can't remember ,do you have to pay stamp duty on a short, ??

prodman - 25 Oct 2005 14:48 - 406 of 550

jimmy b - No, but you will when you buy them to close the position

jimmy b - 25 Oct 2005 14:52 - 407 of 550

Thanks ,i don't remember that last time , not like real life then !!

akel44 - 25 Oct 2005 16:16 - 408 of 550

with this new trading rule, the game is fairer and more exciting,
"no runaways so far"

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 16:58 - 409 of 550

akel,

glad you agree

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 17:00 - 410 of 550

jimmy

same as last time I am afraid, stamp duty applies to all buys just like the real world, but not to a short

jimmy b - 25 Oct 2005 17:07 - 411 of 550

I don't get it, prodman says you pay stamp duty when you close the short or buy back.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 17:12 - 412 of 550

Jimmy,

If you buy, you will be charged stamp duty

If you short, there is no stamp duty, you will however be charged it when you perform the closing transaction (the buy back) as this will be a buy. This is the same as the real thing.

Taxman has to make his money somewhere :)

jimmy b - 25 Oct 2005 17:16 - 413 of 550

I have shorted stock with Barclays ,and never paid any stamp duty.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 25 Oct 2005 17:28 - 414 of 550

Jimmy,

I think we are getting our wires crossed here. No short ever incurrs stamp duty, the buy back is a 'buy' to the taxman and will incurr stamp duty, when you are trading real shares and consequently in the game as well
