legs3.jpg

Glad to hear it, MM. Btw, is there any snow in your office lest they get withdrawal symptoms?

mg - 10 May 2005 10:20 - 3999 of 11056

hils
You shouldn't do that to me, I've gone all moist - it must be the snow ;)

choccopops
Spooky - same exit - at least we finished at the same time - always a good sign ;)

Now, concentrate mg, get the napsack, those wellies and Pretorian Guards ready for the long march eastwards. There's bound to be snow in the Fens .......

shano1 - 10 May 2005 15:20 - 4002 of 11056

Quick question from a newbie: Does anyone have any preference for who they put their trades through?

I'm using IGIndex at the moment for swing trading (sometimes keeping positions open for days), but their spreads on e.g. Jun05 are horrendous. 24 points for GBP/CHF or GBP/JPY. :-(

Who do others prefer? Any pointers appreciated!

Sue 42 - 10 May 2005 16:05 - 4003 of 11056

I use CMC s/b - no problems so far

shano1 - 10 May 2005 16:50 - 4004 of 11056

Cheers Sue, I'll take a look.

mg - 10 May 2005 18:48 - 4005 of 11056

I use Capital Spreads - used to use IGI but their spreads are crap. Only problem is that Capital Spreads are not 24 hours - which is crap. But if you're taking the long view that shouldn't be a problem.

i use finspreads: june cable 8 points, spot 6. not 24 hours either :(

shano1 - 10 May 2005 19:52 - 4007 of 11056

Thanks fellas / fellesses, I'll add those to the list to check out further.

chocolat - 10 May 2005 21:25 - 4008 of 11056

CMC's ok for 24 hour stuff - 3 point spread, but you have to be wary of overnight stops. Plus CMC can't requote FX.

One day mg XIV who had been stranded on a desert island for over 10
years, saw a speck on the horizon. He thought to himself, "It's certainly
not a ship." And, as the speck got closer and closer, he began to rule out
the possibilities of a small boat and even a raft.
Suddenly there emerged from the surf a wet-suited black clad figure.
Putting aside the scuba gear and the top of the wet suit, there stood a
drop-dead gorgeous blonde.
The glamorous blonde strode up to the stunned mg XIV and said to him,
"Tell me, how long has it been since you've had a cigarette?"
"Ten years," replied the amazed mg XIV. With that, she reached over and unzipped a waterproof pocket on the left sleeve or her wet suit, and pulled out a fresh pack of cigarettes.
He took one, lit it, and took a long drag. "Holy mother of God," said mg, "that is so good I'd almost forgotten how great a smoke can be!"
"And how long has it been since you've had a drop of good Scotch whisky?"
asked the blonde.
Trembling, the castaway replied, "Ten years."
Hearing that, the blonde reached over to her right sleeve, unzippped a pocket
there and removed a flask and handed it to him.
He opened the flask and took a long drink. "It's the nectar of God!"
cried the Yorkshireman. "It's truly fantastic!!!"
At this point the gorgeous blonde started to slowly unzip the long front
of her wet suit, right down the middle. She looked at the trembling man
and asked, "And how long has it been since you played around?"
With tears in his eyes, mg XIV fell to his knees and sobbed,
"Sweet Jesus! Don't tell me you've got golf clubs in there too!"

I'm not sure what to make of that reaction other than to suggest that volumes were probably pretty thin for it move like that. The Yuan revaluation has been on the table for what seems like ages now. Cable didn't budge throughout the wild swings elsewhere. And only a few minutes before the Trade Balance figures too. Hmmmmmm.
