Have you used Ad-aware to check for Malware and Spyware on your machine? The symptoms you describe sound 'classic'.

55011, have you looked in windows task manager,
(right click on taskbar and select processes in the task manager) then you will see what is using the CPU,
Doc, i have and run every other day, spybot S&D,ad-aware,MS antispyware,AVG (free) and Nortons internet security 2004,so that side of things should be ok,
in task manager i click on NAVauto protect when its using 25 - 30 % of my CPU aand end process, then i RE enable NAV auto protect and it does not use up the CPU,so only when i have the PC on a very long time it does this,(it seems),

Windows PCs face huge virus threat
By Kevin Allison in San Francisco
Published: January 2 2006 18:18 | Last updated: January 2 2006 22:19
Computer security experts were grappling with the threat of a newweakness in Microsofts Windows operating system that could put hundreds of millions of PCs at risk of infection by spyware or viruses.

The news marks the latest security setback for Microsoft, the worlds biggest software company, whose Windows operating system is a favourite target for hackers.
The potential [security threat] is huge, said Mikko Hyppen, chief research officer at F-Secure, an antivirus company. Its probably bigger than for any other vulnerability weve seen. Any version of Windows is vulnerable
and a fix

I want to try and stop my staff (well one of them anyway) from playing the Windows games. How do I remove / hide them? The Control panel option of remove / add programs doesn't work.

The games or the Staff?

Go to the game you wish to remove and click its properties. That will give you its directory and sub directories. Go to that directory, find the game you wish with an extension .exe, Don't delete it but change its name to one you can remember in case you wish to play the game yourself in the future. Should solve the problem. This would do for 2000 and before, not certain about latest version.

As you probably know, there are different types of 'Pop-ups'. Does your 'Pop-up Blocker' work effectively to prevent them spoiling your Internet enjoyment?
Give it a thorough test at

Guv,
Microsoft Vista
Breydon,
Have you tried a Window Update in Me? There may be a patch for what you are experiencing.
With Tiny Drivers you will just have to Google the Model number/ Part Number (On the underneath) and the word driver and trawl.

I have two simple questions.
1. I am using IE as my browser but, having read the recent press, switching to Firefox seems sensible. But, is it as simple as replacing one with another? For example, I use pocket pc on my mobile (IE). Do I have to change that too, in order for Ian to recognise both users as me? Are there any conflicts and what is the step-bt-step-'blonde'-way to effect the switchover?
2. (Much easier!). Those of you who have the right software, please could you tell me, if somebody bought something costing 100 in 1823, what would the price be in today's currency?
Thanks

Goodness, MM, a reply in the time it took me to make a cup of tea! Thank you. Version 1.5 seems to be the latest so I'm about to take the leap. (Not a very brave bear....)
