<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. Level 2 looks interesting as there are no MM in the picture at moment, a little resistance up to 1.09p then nothing much on the books at present of any substance.

They should be Drilling in to Beth at Present

Not everybody uses level 2 or puts in orders...I never do...I just trade on the spur of the moment...DES has to rise on expectancy....and the mindset is a discovery...that might not happen, but a lot of investors will prefer to be in before the such awaited rns rather than wait till after...mainly because of: 2 targets in one well and at least 5 more to go ....

DES should put an rns out saying how well they are doing keeping a lid on any news...even in the stormy waters down there...;-)

Shares in Desire Petroleum have risen by around 15 per cent this week to 102 pence on rumours that the oil exploration company will on Friday say that it has struck oil under the seas around the Falkland Islands. Further gains in the share price are expected with Spreadex currently offering a rolling spread of 101.7 pence-103.3 pence for the shares.

A Royal Navy attack submarine has been sent to the Falkands to boost security as speculation mounts that drillers have found oil there, it was revealed today.
HMS Sceptre, a Swiftsure-class nuclear-powered submarine, has been sent to the Islands from southern Africa, say sources.

It is hoped that the presence of the 5,000-tonne submarine will make Argentina think twice about laying serious claims to the British islands.

The vessel is equipped with Spearfish anti-ship torpedoes and took three weeks to reach the Falklands.

A source told The Sun newspaper: 'It has state-of-the-art listening sensors and will be monitoring all ship movements in the area.'
It was expected, they said, that the presence of the sub would 'strike fear into the hearts of any possible enemy'.

Details of Sceptre's presence in the waters around the Falkland Islands came as speculation mounted that British firm Desire Petroleum has struck oil.
It is expected to announce next week whether it has had success.

Experts claim there could be as much as 60 billion barrels of crude oil under Falkland's waters. There are already two Navy vessels in the area. HMS York, a Type 42 destroyer, is partolling off the island's capital of Port Stanley.
HMS Scott, a survey vessel, is also nearby and the fleet has air support from a squadron of RAF Typhoon fighter jets based on the islands.

The submarine, which was built in 1978, is 82 metres long and is equipped with sonar, attack and search periscopes, collision avoidance radar and electronic warfare. In addition, she has five torpedo tubes capable of firing the Spearfish.

Argentina has renewed claims in recent weeks that Britain is illegally occupying the islands. Last Wednesday, protesters carrying petrol bombs were stopped by police as they tried to storm the British Embassy in Buenos Aires.

Its no suprise as i submitted this link on the 24.02.10 and back then Keith said" We send a "destroyer", four "Euro-fighters" and a submarine are also on the way,

This has all been run along with HMG and am sure the RNS saying we have hit oil Will have to be past through them first untill we read it.

good point marky.....the political implications are quite huge so going overt with the navy top cover would no doubt add something to the atmosphere of a successful drill programme.....popeye's to the rescue....

They had V.I.P flown to the rig yesterday......plenty of good Pics and PR ....now would the V.I.P have pics taken if Liz is a flop?.....tick tock tick tock!!!
