stockbunny - 29 Jan 2004 11:39 - 3998 of 23498

SnoBall - Jim Rogers has been an investor for some years, in the 80's
he embarked in a trip around the world to check out the investment
opportunities, this second book (Adventure Capitalist) is a return
journey taken over 3 years around yr.2000

This time he is using a custom built Mercedes, the last time he went
round on a motorbike. He travels through the continents - like up one
side of Africa and down the other, through Siberia and many of the
new countries that were in the old USSR, through places like China,
what was Burma, even South America. He's an American but not a
'flag-waver' if you follow me, he's very opinionated but frankly many
may agree with his outspoken views on things like aid to third world
countries, corruption and the World Bank and debts.

Go on - buy it!!! If you like travel, social/ecomonic commentary,
are into cars, like investment or currency opinion or simply like
to read something outspoken you'll enjoy it I am sure...well I hope...
well I did...Suppose in keeping with
the usual 'rules' on the site I should finish this with saying read
the write up on amazon and the legendary moneyam anthem of DYOR etc!
(lol)

Greetings.

hilary - 29 Jan 2004 17:25 - 4000 of 23498

Socrates - 29 Jan 2004 17:31 - 4001 of 23498

The Amyethyst is not a good thing to get stuck up your Yangtse, incidentally.

Gianni - 29 Jan 2004 17:54 - 4002 of 23498

Don't want all you nice people suffering so please pass this on...

Just posted this on the PC board - this is real.

MyDOOM B virus - very nasty.

Check out the site details - given the full code so go check

http://www.microsoft.com/security/antivirus/mydoom.asp

Make sure your protections are up to date

Socrates - 29 Jan 2004 18:48 - 4003 of 23498

Gianni
Already covered, thank you for the thought.

Socrates - 29 Jan 2004 19:05 - 4004 of 23498

Technically the Mydoom infection is a "Worm". For full details go to:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.novarg.a@mm.html

Norton update of 26th Jan will have protected most users, however if you are using another anti-virus software you need to check. Better safe than sorry. Thanks again to Gianni for the heads up.

Now that's the techie bit out of the way, where's the sherry trifle and the fizzy plonk?

little willie - 29 Jan 2004 20:20 - 4005 of 23498

Goodnight all.

hilary - 30 Jan 2004 07:54 - 4013 of 23498

V.,

I hope that you don't think that I was being rude. I would've liked to stay a little longer and introduce myself, but I had to rush for a train at Victoria as I had a committment to be back by a certain time.

It was nice to put faces to names.

Golddog - 30 Jan 2004 10:15 - 4014 of 23498

Morning all.

Yes snoball Vasey is gorgeous from what iv'e seen of her from a brief snippet of photo and glad to hear the snow shovel was not needed.

Speaking of photo's we did have a photo gallery once so i might put some photo's up for display again on a web page to include myself, hilary, 8 ball, fanta, and just for the sake of us lads..feline and for the girlies....klutey.

jeff, Im not crazy just nuts! Hope all is well with your family and the deer. :-)

Tea for one please.

This_is_me - 30 Jan 2004 10:34 - 4015 of 23498

I have a large piece of red salmon on cooking for brunch to celebtate the bright blue of the AHT quote and being the first to pass the 100k in the game.

The ups and downs of stockmarket investing - my portfolio spent the autumn drifting down a few % as the FTSE went up a few %. January is on track for a 20+% hike as nearly everything went up while the FTSE drifted down a little.

I just can't think of a suitable humorous sexist comment at present, maybe jeff can!

stockbunny - 30 Jan 2004 13:15 - 4016 of 23498

I'd love some salmon if there's some going This-Is-Me and
well done you!!! ((So what you drinking??))

A sexist comment...you...no never..can't imagine it....
((That secured my piece of salmon with a bit of luck!! lol))
