Traders Thread - Friday 26th May (TRAD)

Greystone - 25 May 2006 21:24

Greystone - 26 May 2006 06:22 - 4 of 16

Good morning traders!

Overnight Asian markets are universally higher.

New York's main oil contract, light sweet crude for delivery in July, was at $71.50, 18 cents higher than its close of $71.32 in the US overnight. Brent North Sea crude for July delivery was flat at $70.71.

Early broker notes:

CRODA UPGRADED TO 'BUY' AT MERRILL LYNCH
DERWENT, BIG YELLOW UPGRADED TO 'BUY' AT MERRILL LYNCH
UNILEVER UPGRADED TO 'BUY' VS 'HOLD' AT DEUTSCHE BANK
VICTREX CUT TO 'UNDERWEIGHT' VS 'EQUAL-WEIGHT' AT MORGAN STANLEY
INTERNATIONAL POWER INITIATED 'NEUTRAL' AT CREDIT SUISSE; PRICE TARGET 285P

Don't forget the UK market is closed Monday. These long weekend breaks often cause some distortion as traders make an early start to the holiday and head for the sun...

Happy friday!

Good morning all.

A day late but still relevant -

Barclays "add"

Thursday, May 25, 2006 6:56:08 AM ET
Dresdner Kleinwort Wasser.

LONDON, May 25 (newratings.com) - Analysts at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein maintain their "add" rating on Barclays (ticker: BARC-GBX). The target price is set to 650p.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that BarCap's robust Q1 profit growth is not surprising, in view of the sectoral performance. BGIs performance has been robust, following healthy investment performance in Q1 and asset growth in the previous period, the analysts add. Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein expects the reported continuing impairment charge growth at Barclaycard to rise 40% in 2006.

What sun! It's the end of May and it's more like late October weather here.

Have a good weekend all

The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

"I've lost my electron." The other says, "Are you sure?" The
first replies, "Yes, I'm positive..."

3. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender
says, "I'll serve you, but don't start anything."

4. Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

4A. A sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, "Sorry we
don't serve food in here."

5. A dyslexic man walks into a bra.

6. A man walks into a bar with a slab of asphalt under his arm
and says: "A beer please, and one for the road."

7. Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the

8. "Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home.'"
"That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome."
"Is it common?"
"It's Not Unusual."

9. Two cows standing next to each other in a field, Daisy says
to Dolly, "I was artificially inseminated this morning." "I
don't believe you," said Dolly. "It's true, no bull!" exclaimed Daisy.

10. An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were
nothing to look at either.
