Redline Communications... new IPO, trading on monday

Tonker - 12 Nov 2006 12:21

Redline Communications is a manufacturer of network multiplexing equipment used to build wireless data networks. The company's products are designed to enable the wireless transmission of voice and data. Redline targets such customers as ISPs, schools, hospitals, and small communications service providers. The company's clients include Ontario's Keewatin-Patricia School District and UK-based wireless communications service providers Nomad Digital and Telabria.

Redline Communications is the leading provider of advanced broadband wireless access and backhaul solutions. Redlines RedMAX WiMAX Forum Certified and RedCONNEX family of award-winning proprietary products enable carriers and service providers to cost-effectively deliver rich fixed and mobile wireless broadband services including voice, video and data to business and residential subscribers.

Question: what is WiMAX? is it a new tech? will it be a good emerging market?

Optimist - 13 Nov 2006 09:37 - 4 of 4

In oversimplified terms, WiMax is similar to standard WiFi but can work over several miles and is therefore a possible alternative for people who live too far axay from their exchange for broadband. I the UK I think this is less than 5% of the population.
