Why has the share price gone down on the same day that shares put a buy recommendation on it.

Theres quite a few of us that bought in at around 21p theres bound to be some profit taking. I bought in on the rumour that shell may take them over. still watching and waiting for news. jw

Please note that the name of the Company is SIBIR not Siber!
While a takeover by Shell would make huge sense for the latter and has been rumoured for about 3 years,such a deal might not be welcome to BP with whom Sibir now also has important operational links and apparently enjoys good relations. The third major partner is Sibneft who are presumably currently out of the running until the Yukos situation is finally resolved.
However the fact that the largest shareholder is Russian should not be overlooked.The close links with Moscow government are testimony to both his importance and effectiveness to the Company and he will clearly be a major factor in the rapid development of Sibir.
The Company looks significantly undervalued even without an takeover possibilities. It is now a rapidly developing fully intergrated oil & gas co. and as such should benefit from a complete upward rerating as the actual production and reserve figures are released during the year. Yesterdays edition of Shares magazine referrred to a net asset value of 10 times present price. I think that is optimistic but will settle for 5 times!!
