US Stocks markets started off the new quarter in positive territory, with technology gains keeping the Nasdaq strong and the broader market higher.

Northern Rock mortgage bank said it was comfortable with the market consensus for 2004 profits 430 million pounds after first-quarter lending increased 16 percent.

George Wimpey said that housing markets in the UK and the United States are set to remain in good shape as it reported a strong start to its new financial year. After 13 weeks over 60 percent of expected sales for the year had been completed or reserved in the United States, while at least half had been completed or reserved at its George Wimpey and Laing Homes units in the UK.

Tips & Recommendations

Crocodile - 02 Apr 2004 07:42 - 4 of 9

Morning all. Look forward to seeing many of you at todays Bristol traders meeting.

HelenW - 02 Apr 2004 08:46 - 5 of 9

Morning all

I don't normal post in the investors room as there are too many threads, and I haven't the time to read a fraction of them.

I notice there are threads asking for advice on a particular shares, rather than a discussion on it's merits (or ramping!). Is it too simplistic to ask "Would it not be more useful to post on this thread, rather than start a new thread"?

Druid2 - 02 Apr 2004 11:24 - 6 of 9

Morning all (just) - Agreed Helen - good idea.

stockbunny - 02 Apr 2004 15:10 - 7 of 9

Any ideas what the DOW is doing? Can't seem to get any
figs up for it.

bush - 02 Apr 2004 15:15 - 8 of 9

at 3:14 futures up 100 on my barclays cfd account, (trading 90-110)

little woman - 02 Apr 2004 21:50 - 9 of 9

stockbunny - I presume you figured out the the US haven't put their clocks forward yet, so only futures (as bush mentioned) are being quoted!
(I did the same on Monday!)

They put their clocks foward on Sunday.
