ECKOH TECHNOLOGIES (ECK)

hendrix66 - 07 Apr 2004 01:35

I've been researching this company & have read a lot of very encouraging articles. It is well placed for future growth, with contracts with BT & ITV.It has also been tipped in the weekend press recently at 15p.However the price has dropped to 11.25p, at which point Ive bought.I can see no reason for this recent fall, but see many for a significant rise at this point. Any comments?

EVB gave this a buy rating yesterday with yesterdays finals.....anyone else have these shares/ have an opinion?

I've held for some time now, believing in the product and clients but watching the shares go nowhere fast apart from slowly south. Not sure why.

anyone know why there is heavy selling on this share today?

might be a knee jerk reaction to story in the Mirror(well known financial press, not)

Grumble at phoney lines

The Mirror
08 June 2004

A CONSUMER action group is threatening mass legal action to halt firms behind rip-off premium rate phone lines.

One of the firms in Grumbletext's sights is Intelliplus, owned by stock market-listed Eckoh Technologies.

Phonelines provided by Intelliplus last year accounted for 69 per cent of all fines imposed by industry watchdog Icstis, says Grumbletext.

But Tracey Miller, head of operations at Intelliplus, said: "Intelliplus has been among the lead operators in putting a stop to the antics of rogue service providers."

recent sell off looks massively overdone, with RSI heading below 20 and
the company is sitting on cash which equates to half the current share price.

ECK also gave a positive trading update last week and EVB issued a buy note last week suggesting a short term target price of 20p.

Based on the positive newsflow I would have expected share to be going in the other direction that it has over the last 6 months....what do I know!!!

did a bit more digging looks like the Mirror are regurgitating a story they ran on Intelliplus this time last year!

GR8 RESULT M8, NOW STOP THE TXT PESTS Jul 23 2003

EXCLUSIVE: Firm cashes in on phone cons

TELECOM company chairman Mike Neville was crowing to investors yesterday.

Reporting annual results, he said how Intelliplus had clawed back from a 20.8million loss in the previous year and doubled turnover.

Here's what he didn't say: Intelliplus makes cash providing phone lines to shysters who have repeatedly been fined by the premium rate watchdog, ICSTIS.

In August 2002 a London firm was fined 10,000 for bogus "prize" texts - lines supplied by Intelliplus.
In October the watchdog shut down a rip-off psychic line run by a firm in Wales - network provider, Intelliplus.
Also that month a Croydon texts firm was fined 5,000 - lines from Intelliplus.
In December a London company tried a "I fancy you" text con - network operator Intelliplus.
In February text scammers in the British Virgin Islands using Intelliplus kit were fined 15,000.
In March Gibraltar text cheats with Intelliplus lines were fined 25,000.
In May Intelliplus was named as providing services to junk text conmen in South Africa, Mauritius and Hong Kong, who were fined 80,000.
Intelliplus chief exec Stuart Duncan told us: "We made a mistake and didn't do the checks we should have. We were caught out." If Intelliplus persists, the DTI could take away their licence.

So happy holidays to Mike Neville, who jetted off to Jamaica yesterday. We hope he isn't interrupted by the bleep of his mobile followed by the fury we all get when we realise it's just junk in our inbox.

SANJUAN1998 - 10 Jun 2004 13:37 - 9 of 13

After encouraging research have just bought at 10.50p. I too could see no reason for latest fall .

Mack1705 - 10 Jun 2004 16:26 - 10 of 13

perhaps the 1,000,000 T trade 'buy' at 10p will help to turn the tide here?

davepyle - 25 Jun 2004 11:25 - 11 of 13

believe noises about eck are positive.....anyone know what I.C. said abut them today??

Mack1705 - 06 Jul 2004 12:02 - 12 of 13

First the FD goes now the Non Executive Chairman

looks like there has been a board room bust up???

any views on what is going on at ECK?

willfagg - 06 Jul 2004 18:07 - 13 of 13

I dont know about the boardroom but the speech recognition( the high profit part) part of the business nearly doubled this year, and they reportedly have a good pipeline of possible contracts.I think the price looks cheap on their potential and have bought. It would only take a small piece of positive news to make the price go north as i think there is a lot of downside already contained in the current price. My opinion only and obviously hoping I have got it right?
