A market would be a funny place if people only ever bought or didn't have different opinions?
I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, but recognise the need to have both view points.

Simple motive - being able to bet that the price will fall rather than always having to look for things to rise.
Don't forget, shorters don't always win and are very rarely the reason a price falls. Most shorters only join the rest of the sellers when a downtrend is established.
'Nuff said.

Are ther any consolidationists or sideways-tradingists in the room?
Mr Market welcomes rampers to be de-ramped and winder uppers to be unwound. Ahhhhhhhhhh, what a beautiful perfect system capitalism is!!

De-rampers (if that is a reasonmable name for them) are a good antidote to rampers.

Is that vice-versa as well....rampers are a good antidote to de-rampers.

Rampers extract money from naive investors. In my opinion,99 per cent of the
people on the board are not ruthless and give honest opinions based on their
interpretation of information.

I think ADVFN needs some samaritans to stop the "rampers that extract money from naive investors".

SH - indeed.
The market is a 2-way street as we know. Why not take advantage of it?
ajren - I do agree with post 14. Most people are honest in their opinions. Wher the trouble often lies is when some lose money. They then look for any excuse other than the truth, which is usually they made a bad trade or investment. We've all done it and should be honest with ourselves when we do. That's the only way to lasting success in this game.

ajren...that is a cynical way to put it...I do have my own feeling that you started your thread on RAMPERS today aimed at myself. Though I do take your opinions with a pinch of salt.

We're all one big happy family really guys!
And besides this is all wonderful theatre! We're all just actors delivering our lines on the big stock market stage! Sometimes to rapturous applause, other times going down like a fart in a spacesuit. A tragedy some days, a comedy the next.
Ahhhhhhhhh! Bring me my tablets nurse!
