money am mobile help required

riggerm - 10 Aug 2004 21:31

Any users out there who can help? Just downloaded new software to mobile P800, can get charts, and news but no prices or any other info on the stockwatch.
TIA

riggerm:

Hmmmm -- we're on the case.

riggerm

Derek is your man on this one.

Must admit I've had minor connection troubles with the new software - Stockwatch startup is slower than before (takes a wee while to get the items displayed), but not sure if this is the new P800 version or the database changes made to the website over the weekend. I'm giving it a few days before figuring it out for sure. Couldn't get a intraday screen when tapping on a Stockwatch item earlier today, but was only out for a while so didn't get a chance to play with it much longer.

If you've got any ideas tech whizzes then give me a shout.

Al

MM thanks, just tried to re install software, this has totally buggered it,can't even log in now.
Error message says- login failed could not connect to server(java.net.Socket Exception:Unexpected end of file from server).

riggerm - 11 Aug 2004 20:10 - 7 of 27

Big Al must say, I was very happy with the old set up, unable to access a pc during working hours, so totally lost without it. For me the only improvement I would have liked, was access to all the rns releases. Had a share sentry pager before, but this system is the db.

Mega Bucks - 11 Aug 2004 20:13 - 8 of 27

what is the db then :-)

MightyMicro - 11 Aug 2004 20:16 - 9 of 27

riggerm: apologies for the problems -- this was a significant upgrade which will bring much bounty in the future, but I realise it's a pain in the neck when things go wrong now.

It's worth trying exiting the application and turning the phone off, wait about thirty seconds, switch on and try again. Sometimes the lower-level networking and GPRS sofware gets huffy (technical term :) in these circumstances.

Let me know what happens.

Big Al: your points noted, thanks for the feedback, we'll be investigating.

Cheers

D.

Big Al - 11 Aug 2004 20:23 - 10 of 27

Mega - db could be akin to the canine's testicles! ;-)))

Derek - might find time to email you when I've played a bit more. Loathed to say a lot until I've messed around a bit and got more info. ;-)

Like the news ticker though. Very nifty!

riggerm - 11 Aug 2004 20:26 - 11 of 27

Mega bucks,I can see it now, lol.

MightyMicro, can now log in, but the original problems remain, thanks.

Mega Bucks - 11 Aug 2004 20:29 - 12 of 27

i aint that sttooopid i just wanted to see if you would take the bait, thanks Al for the description :-))))lol.

hilary - 11 Aug 2004 20:44 - 13 of 27

Hmmmmmmmmm. Technology.

Think I'll stick with my old baked bean tins, a bit of string and, of course, the good old commode. I'm sure you won't be offended MM.

:o)

MightyMicro - 11 Aug 2004 22:34 - 14 of 27

Hil: If you ever come to lunch with us at our local pub beside IST, the seat of honour is, indeed, an old commode. Consider your reservation made.

Big Al: Feel free to email me, all input welcome.

riggerm: the rocket scientists will check it out tomorrow . . .

D.

riggerm - 12 Aug 2004 17:36 - 15 of 27

Thanks for that MM. Alas another day without prices on stockwatch. Even managed to loose the charts this morning. Know you are doing your best, but still very frustrating.
Big Al is your system still ok?

Big Al - 12 Aug 2004 18:22 - 16 of 27

riggerm

I had prices OK when I nipped out around lunchtime. Even got linked to the charts by tapping on the individual quote/chart in the watchlist. However, it was taking its time compared to previous version. I believe there is an update, but I've not had time to load it yet.

Maybe some tech whizz will paste the link or I'll see if I can dig it out from the Traders' Room.

Derek - will try to get an email away this evening.

burtey2 - 12 Aug 2004 19:26 - 17 of 27

Riggerm youre not alone Ive been having the same problem, Ive got the new download e-mailed to me Tuesday, theres no problem logging in but after putting in the tickers nothing just a blank screen, totally pi#* off

Bullshare - 12 Aug 2004 19:35 - 18 of 27

All,

Some users have experienced difficulty with the new software we launched on Tuesday, so there are some new installers for the PocketPC and Symbian phones now available. If you go to: http://www.moneyam.com/mobile and click on 'download' you will be able to get the files.

For the p800/p900, if you go to that link on your mobile, you will be able to download and install without your sync cradle if you want.

Any problems, please post below.

burtey2 - 12 Aug 2004 19:45 - 19 of 27

riggerm - 12 Aug 2004 19:59 - 20 of 27

Big Al - 12 Aug 2004 20:07 - 21 of 27

Bullie to the rescue while I ate dinner, obviously!!

;-)))

MightyMicro - 12 Aug 2004 20:19 - 22 of 27

I'd like to apologise to all you MoneyAM mobile users for the recent problems.

We tried to "improve" things by using a standard port number as this helps with other devices (Blackberry).

This worked OK, but we were mugged by the carriers (wireless Telcos) who have taken it upon themselves to buffer data on this port in some circumstances so that it doesn't always arrive in real time.

Once we diagnosed what was happening, we reverted to Plan A and all is now well.

Once again, my apologies, our team have worked diligently to resolve these and other issues.

Mea culpa.

Derek

That would be Mea culpa :-)
