Traders Thread - Monday 17th October (TRAD)

Greystone - 16 Oct 2005 10:53

A Brief Look At The Week Ahead
This week should see more action on the retail front, led by the beleaguered supermarket chain Wm Morrison which may report the first loss in its corporate history on Wednesday. Lehman Bros "tentatively" forecast a 33m pre-tax loss as "a result of seasonality", while Citigroup is looking for a 25m profit (pre-tax). On a brighter note, Diageo is expected to publish a positive trading update at its AGM on Tuesday. The main strength is expected to be good momentum in the US spirits sector, where the group is the market leader. Analysts are expecting 6%-plus sales growth on the quarter for the US. The City is also looking forward to this week's trading update from EMI, given concerns about a slowdown in the US music market. The worry with EMI is the outlook statement for this quarter's trading and the release lineup for the Christmas period. It needs to be something special to reverse recent share price falls. Rio Tinto will post its Q3 production figures this week. Few surprises are expected, with the group having recently hosted an exploration update. The market will give some extra attention to the technology sector this week with Sage providing a trading update. The main interest will be on whether the recent launch of Microsoft's new entry-level accounting package has had any impact on Sage's sales figures. Negative sentiment has seen Sage's share price drift 9% since hitting a 238p high in mid-September. Other BB favourites in the limelight this week include Superscape, ARM Holdings, Bellway, ASOS and Freeport. Let's hope you all find something there to whet your appetite. Good hunting! Please note: I am in the process of moving house and don't yet have a telephone line installed at the new place. Until that happens, I will be starting off the daily Traders Threads early each morning instead of the night before. I hope you will bear with me on this for a while. I'll return to the evening startup as soon as I can. Greystone (Greystone is Alan English, City Editor at MoneyAM.)

Good Afternoon all

Does anyone know how I can find out bid & offer prices from about 3 weeks ago?

I used to be able to do it from Moneyam trade options - although the dates are still there - it only lets you go back a week!

End of day market summary

little woman - 17 Oct 2005 22:10 - 13 of 15

just tried to log into my Ing Direct account - site gone!

A friend tells me their site has been "detagged"!

Does anyone know anything???

little woman - 17 Oct 2005 22:11 - 14 of 15

I've been told anyone can buy the domain!!!!! Its available.....???

little woman - 17 Oct 2005 23:24 - 15 of 15

Tried to buy the Ingdirect domain, but it wouldn't let me!! It says its available until you try to buy it.

I suppose someone messed up at Ing in the UK! It'll be interesting to see how long it takes them to sort things out and get the site up and running again.

I wonder if anyone will really find out what happened or will they keep it quiet.
