Site outage 0715 - 0747 21/10/05

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 21 Oct 2005 07:53

Good morning,

I'd like the apologise for the problems with accessing the MoneyAM website this morning, unfortuately there was a more general problem with the internet caused by some issues at the London Internet Exchange which meant that we, along with many other websites, were not available for a period of time.

As resiliant as MoneyAM's network is to total outage, sometimes things happen that are completely out of our control; this was one of them.

If you continue to experience problems accessing MoneyAM then you'd be best off calling us on: 0870 770 8300 as I expect your ability to post to the bulletin boards would be deminished.

If you have any questions regarding what happened, please post below and we'll try and answer them.

Evening JT

Just to let you know my firewall stopped an attempted connection tonight to my pc from 193.243.128.83 img.moneyam.com at 1920.22h

Shares on line limited and DXI networks limited were also mentioned.

Can you throw any light on this?

Thanks

Nam

namreh3,

img.moneyam.com is our static image server, it makes no outgoing connections (you connect to it via HTTP to retreive images) so your firewall is reporting something incorrectly.

What port was it attempting to connect to? and what was the source port of the attempted connection?

That IP address (193.243.128.83) is one that was obtained by us from RIPE when we were known as Shares Online ltd. As DXI are our upstream provider, that's why their name would have been mentioned.
