Morning Socs, dear boy; gather there's a 'bit of a blow' in blighty.
Any snow on the beloved cotswolds?

snoball - 31 Jan 2004 10:16 - 4041 of 23498

Pretty windy down here also Socs.
There's an oil tanker in the back garden.
The lifeboat is on its way.

Had a real blizzard here a few days ago, lasted nearly half an hour and left us nicely covered. The hills looked glorious but only a couple of days later it's all gone and now we have half a gale and rain to boot. The weather forecast says "100% chance of rain". Now what good are odds like that to a betting man?

I suppose you have yet another day of unchanged sunshine, don't you sometimes wish for a change?

stockbunny - 31 Jan 2004 15:15 - 4043 of 23498

Seems there's a sudden influx of offal on the thread,
as long as someone remembers to wash the floor afterwards please,
any more witty entrails to add gentlemen?
(snigger..as a veggie eating female fluffy bunny I wont venture
any comment on the various usage of redundant innards....
brings a whole new prepective to male creativity! :o)

stockbunny - 31 Jan 2004 15:44 - 4044 of 23498

OK people I'm hopping off now - sees you all on Monday, I'm
determined to stay off the computer tomorrow, it's the only
way I can be sure I wont end up working all weekend!!

Don't get blown away in the gales.............

little willie - 31 Jan 2004 16:59 - 4045 of 23498

Socs, guess the best guy to opine would be Hightone but he's probably at the races.
Yes, sometimes I wish for snow but then I awake to glorious weather.
Last week we had some overcast days, temp dropped to low 70's which is perfect for golf and a lovely release from the sun.
We also had the Cape Doctor wind blowing a nice breeze and for two nights had a single half blanket on the bed at night instead of just a light sheet.

In July/Aug we'll have plenty of rain and temps into v. low teens and at night occassional frost with snow on surrounding mountains, which is also great. Large log burning fire every night!!
Hasta la vista all....

This_is_me - 31 Jan 2004 17:03 - 4046 of 23498

I nearly forgot to get potatoes for Sunday dinner. I had to take my youngest arround to one of the local rabbit warrens for a party (managed not to get lost - if it had been 'she who thinks she should be obeyed' taking the child she would have run out of petrol before finding her way out), didn't see stockpotbunny or any of her relatives.

snoball - 01 Feb 2004 00:12 - 4047 of 23498

Good work, T_i_m. 99 grand is good going.
Still, I'm very pleased with my choice, especially as I am ahead of esteemed investors like Bullshare and Croc.
Not bad for a virtually random choice. It just goes to show that all this fundamental/technical analysis stuff is a load of whassername. If the market is going up, buy something good (i.e. in the FTSe100) and if its going down sell something bad.

I did forget the pots for Sunday.
I'm thinking about going to Tesco's now.
You'd think I'd have something better to do.

I knew I shouldn't 've switched this machine on.

nite all.

snoball - 01 Feb 2004 00:23 - 4048 of 23498

Before I go, does anybody know if there is a Dax thread in the Investors room?
I have looked in case you think I am being lazy.

Socrates - 01 Feb 2004 08:51 - 4049 of 23498

snoball
Can't remember seeing one, what is it, some sort of vacuum cleaner?

Kayak - 01 Feb 2004 11:33 - 4050 of 23498

Sounded more like a washing powder to me :-)

Socrates - 01 Feb 2004 11:55 - 4051 of 23498

No, I think you mean Lax or Duz!

Is it time for a brew? I'll light a bonfire under the kettle.

snoball - 01 Feb 2004 14:03 - 4052 of 23498

Who let the bonfire under the kettle go out?

BTW Dax is German washing powder.

Socrates - 01 Feb 2004 17:27 - 4053 of 23498

Has that kettle boiled yet? Just been out trolley racing and antique fair loitering. Started home down the M5 and the heavens opened, no drought here for sure. River Severn looked almost level with the road at Upton, locals must be getting quite worried.

To get back to washing powder, does anyone remember Rinso and Oxydil, and whatever happened to tide, did it just ebb away?

This_is_me - 01 Feb 2004 18:20 - 4054 of 23498

OMO was the real stuff for washing; so my granny said.

jeffmack - 01 Feb 2004 19:00 - 4055 of 23498

Who mentioned OMO

Golddog - 01 Feb 2004 19:22 - 4056 of 23498

Oh yes i remember Pond News! :-)

Not found my post regarding the paint colour yet but still enjoying reading old posts. Did i really say some of those things!!! anyway just read this post by littlewillie when Gravy was 30 and since i will be 30 this year this is was he said...........

littlewillie - 19 Dec'01 - 15:24 - 10256 of 10599

Ravey..thats it then, your birthday contribution, I like that joke.Saw the great Harry Webb at 'Two Eyes'.
I bloody hated 30,really was the only birthday I didn't want to happen, 20,40 even 50 no worries, I know where on the hill of life I am, but 30!!!
Out of radio 1 onto 2 and JY prog, bet you get slippers at Crimble...you'll see!!! and maybe, fanfare of trumpets, a hot water bottle knitted cover!!!WOW.
.
I was between marriages, not met the present mrs.lw, looking after a couple of the fairer sex, 'Dancing Queen' was no.1, still had a gay time without lifting shirt tails. Had a brand spanking new Ford Capri 1.6 GL sort of deep yellow with brown imitation leather interior! Thought it was the biz.
Four of us took it down to Nice, we all stayed on the attic floor above a friends restaurant there, the girls didn't mind the closeness of things, nudge, nudge I wonder what happened to them, prob. married to a barrister or something.
Anyway, have a superb night 'cos it's the beginning of the end...lw

littlewillie - 13 Dec'01 - 10:54 - 9849 of 10599

Hi Everyone, the twerp from Antwerp here, got an invite yesterday to stick my nose into this den of in-equity? As I regularly sign off threads with 'going out to one of my bars/cafe to read my Telegraph and have a nice Belgian cigar, [they are v.nice], I thought a change of venue may be enlightening, also, of course, [baby]it's cold outside.
Is it waitress service here like those nice SFI places with chromium plated poles all around. Ah yes, thought so, that would be the sort of place I'd find Jeff and Hils. hanging out at.

Oh, and before I break any unknown rules what's the SP on passing wind, swearing and doing a touch of ganja?

I'm so bored this a.m., portfolio is awful, as are my followers, stocks of interest etc. THE LOT! What am I to do?
Wait, there's a light, a star, looks like a GEM sparkling from the direction of Petra.
Sorry I haven't touched my coffee but I must away, nice meeting you all, don't forget to answer...lw

Jeff

jgp212 - 13 Dec'01 - 11:14 - 9851 of 10599

littlewillie! I feel rather sorry for you!

With a little willy and a portfolio looking sad I am
not suprised so to speak.

Move to Hampshire!

:-)

Jeff.

8 Ball - 01 Feb 2004 20:31 - 4059 of 23498

Jeff is much nicer these days, must be mellowing with age.

Socs That tide went out.

Can anyone help me with the name of a walls ice cream from the 80's.
It was pink at the bottom half, with hundreds and thousands on the top.
On the inside it had chocolate on the stick.
No it's not a fab but thats the nearest.
