As I'm sure you are aware, we and many of you have had a long and tiresome battle with Java when trying to use our streaming services. We have therefore been working on a solution to remove this problem.

We are pleased to announce that we have a new stockwatch available for use which no longer uses Java. We are currently making this available as a technical beta version, which means we are interested in your feedback regarding performance, bugs and browser/operating system/device compatibility issues (note: design and styling will be addressed in later beta releases).

For the purpose of allowing the old and new stockwatch versions to run concurrently, the technical functionality of the new stockwatch mimics the old one for now (not style, fonts or look). Editing and managing watchlists uses the same process as the current java stockwatch but is now at the top of the page. This will allow you to switch between the versions should you have any problems. All technical features of the current stockwatch are available in the new version except for the ability to drag resize columns. In the near future and as we migrate away from the java version of stockwatch, we will add new usability features as well as design it up to make the whole stockwatch experience smoother than it has ever been.

As this new version does not require java, you should expect it to work on your android devices and ipad/iphones. For now the display has not been optimised for smaller screens, but this will come in future development.

NOTE: Due to javascript performance in Internet Explorer 8, this new stockwatch can cause high CPU load. We recommend you use a current version of a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results.

Please do not worry about design/style at the moment as this version has not been styled it is purely a technical beta test environment it will be styled before it is released. We have put this here purely for feedback on its technical functionality i.e does it work in your browser and on your PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile

I think the non-Java Stockwatch is great. Congratulations.

I appreciate that this is not supposed to be posted on here, but as it is a request to some posters, I think that it is appropriate.

I belong to 3 similar sites and MoneyAm are by far the best at responding to posts, with some that never answer, so come on guys give the workers at the coal face a break.

Whilst I also think the adds are ridiculous, there are ways of getting results by being direct and blunt but still being none aggressive.

Whoever in the sales team thought an ad screaming at you on every page was a good idea is bonkers ........

Hi Greekman. Bad service is bad service. No use comparing with how bad other sites are. MAM have at least acknowledged the problem. I think people have been patient in view of the recent changes. Pay for a service and expect a service.

When it works the PHP is good but it rarely works for me on live share dealing stream. Chrome or IE or Firefox.
So I have downgraded, if it works I might upgrade later.

I agree MAM staff are very helpful, except maybe the marketing people. Bet they did not listen to the techies!

Greek, what you say is true. George and Ian cannot be blamed
whatsoever for the lapses and lack of vision among MAM's marketing honchos.
If anything, both George and Ian deserve a payrise or a meaningful bonus, methinks!
Some of the money coming in from these idiotic ads could be given to them.

midknight if you have limited broadband usage it will eat it up but you can turn them off .

jimmy, can you tell me how to do that. step by step, please, as
I am not a techie-type. At the moment MAM is eating up more of
my usage in 15 minutes than I usually go through in a whole day.
MAM should be paying me and others in my situation for this.
I am now actually looking at other sites with a view to
migrating, if necessary.

midkinight i had the same problem ,Rocky posted it on the FTSE thread i will find it and re post on the FTSE 250 thread .

Thanks for the info, jimmy. Have disabled 'Shockwave Flash'
per Rocky (I found his post). My IE version 8 does not seem to have
Tracking Protection, so could not do what you suggested.
Anyway, Rocky's solution does not seem to work for me
so I think I might just forget MAM after today
and I doubt very much that the marketing types care a dime.

Try using google chrome as a browser ,then Rockys solution works fine..
Not worth leaving MAM for a short term problem like this .

Is there anyway of making the HTML version the preferred version, as I think it is great and a whole lot better than the Java popup which appears before Java use. By the way I am currently using the free version, but thinking of an upgrade :)

Go to your preferred HTML Stockwatch page and then 'Bookmark' this new Stockwatch page in your browser's Favorites, making sure you store the Favorite's link on the IE Favorites bar- if you still use IE, or the "Bookmarks bar" if you use Chrome.

Then drag the link so that it always appears at the top of your browser page. Rename it to something short, eg. 'Stockwatch'.

You might need to search for 'dragging bookmark links' on YouTube if you aren't too familiar with exactly how to do such dragging.

Jimmy, Rocky's suggestion works a treat. One has to restart the
computer. I had not done that yesterday when I posted
here. Have used only a tenth of yesterday's bandwidth today,
which, of course, nakes one very annoyed with MAM. What sort
of people are in charge of such decisions...! The mind boggles!
More complaints about bandwidth usage or wastage on the BUGS thread
today. One says his ISP phoned him about excessive usage
because of MAM shenanigans. That says it all.

Much prefer this , it does not use as much in the way of processor resources etc and therefore loads quicker.

Beta version of stockwatch is great .
I must add my feedback re the annoying backdrop advert program /video which just adds a lot of awful backdrop noise. I can't quite understand what the advertisers hope to gain from it. Don't even know what they are trying to sell.
I also don't understand why moneyam let it run until April 9th after getting such strong negative feedback . Ssomebody should tell these advertisers that ramming messages down peoples throats or ears is not a clever sales technique.
I find it especially annoying that the advert continues to run after switching to other sites . This hould have been pulled as soon as management became aware that the advert had such disastrous impact .

1. Still a delay and temporary lock up on Firefox on opening the page or returning to stockwatch either as the page automatically searches for java or as the beta software kicks in.
2. Not very happy with the video advert (using Firefox) It automatically plays every time the page updates.
3. The page automatically flicks to advertise Level 2 after two or three minutes so I have to flick back to stockwatch which resets the page, freezes firefox and goes through the advert again.
Otherwise does what it says on the tin.... Java ceased on my Mac anyway

Actually when the page automatically flicks after 2 minutes, it is not asking me to upgrade to level 2, it is asking me to sign up for an account... which I already have!

fredzefisher, have you tried CCcleaner? it clears all the rubbish and cookies out of your comp. It certainly keeps firefox on the ball.,.

using windows 7 and firefox no problems as yet
