THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Yes hays is correct.

goldfinger - 15 May 2014 09:40 - 40743 of 81564

Another shocking Q1 GDP reading, this time Portugal. -0.7% vs expectations of +0.1%. That's France, Portugal and Italy all missed today............could Europe drag the World Economy down!!!!!!!

cynic - 15 May 2014 10:26 - 40744 of 81564

ah indeed ... i've told everyone for ages that the eurozone economy was still in very poor health, unlike our own .... but of course the usual suspects poo-pooed that as it ran at odds to their supposed political leanings

VICTIM - 15 May 2014 10:31 - 40745 of 81564

Ever more reason to be at least wary of this Europe.

Which month will it be when gf admits that the Conservative will probably win the GE? Will he wait until the actual week of the election or change his view months earlier? He likes to be on the winning side so he will have to jump ship at some point.

cynic - 15 May 2014 11:02 - 40748 of 81564

you may be convinced, but no one else is

that said, sticky and fossy are still in denial that the uk economy is recovering strongly, while even their party leaders confirm that that is so - though it must stick in their craw

Haystack - 15 May 2014 11:21 - 40749 of 81564

I am not convinced. I meant would gf finally admit that they would win even if the Conservatives were way ahead in the polls.

cynic - 15 May 2014 11:56 - 40750 of 81564

you mean like neil kinnock was? :-)

Haystack - 15 May 2014 12:11 - 40751 of 81564

There is always that. However Miliband is Kinnock's equivalent..

hilary - 15 May 2014 12:14 - 40752 of 81564

Of course the Conservatives will win the general election, it's just a matter of debate as to whether they'll get an overall majority. The UKIP vote in the European elections is nothing more than a protest because the public have a right to a referendum and there'll be hell to pay if they don't get one.

When it comes to the general election, however, Millibland is an unelectable accident waiting to happen, and the Tories will UKIP-ise their own policies in the run-up to the election whilst, at the same, smear and discredit UKIP as a bunch of racists and bigots. UKIP will end up getting the Labour vote, and the Tories will ignore UKIP and return to vote Tory because they know damn well that UKIP won't get any seats and they'll be too scared of letting Labour in through the back door. With some luck, Scotland will leave the union and that will pave the way for overall Conservative majorities for the next 50 years once the red jocks no longer have any say.

cynic - 15 May 2014 12:16 - 40753 of 81564

your very brave .... hope you're wearing armour like jean d'arc, but equally that you do not find yourself being burnt at the stake :-)

Haystack - 15 May 2014 12:16 - 40754 of 81564

Tell it like it is!!!!

goldfinger - 15 May 2014 12:21 - 40755 of 81564

Oh, and for anybody who thinks Cameron should resign if the jocks do vote to leave the union, they're wrong. He should be knighted!!!

doodlebug4 - 15 May 2014 12:23 - 40757 of 81564

Well I'm a "jock" ( not a red one ) now living in England and I don't have a say anyway ! As a matter of interest, I don't know why English people can't vote to say whether or not they want Scotland to gain independence. :-)

Political Equations

I’ve had a look at these and I think they’re right.
Would any mathematicians like to add any equations of their own?

Can you solve these political equations?
David Cameron - Nick Clegg = 0

Ed Miliband x David Cameron = David Miliband

Alex Salmond³ - Scotland = Nigel Farage

Tuition Fees + (Nick Clegg x Pledge) = Tuition Fees²

Nick Clegg + Pledge = Pledge x 0

√ Nigel Farage = Enoch Powell

Tory Party ÷ Europe = Ed Miliband + Nr 10

Nigel Farage - Public School = Nick Griffin

Lib Dems - Nick Clegg ≥ Lib Dems + Nick Clegg

Nigel Farage - EU = 0

IDS ± Frog = Cock³

NHS x (David Cameron + Nick Clegg) = NHS x 0

Bankers + (Bonus³) = Recession³

Boris - Hair = Ken + (London Mayor x 2)

Chris Grayling = C*nt x ∞

.

Shortie - 15 May 2014 12:59 - 40759 of 81564

I can't stand Cameron or Milliband or even that ginger twat from the Lib-Dems (forgotton his name and can't be bothered to google)... Its no wonder people don't bother to vote when this is the best that we have.

cynic - 15 May 2014 13:05 - 40760 of 81564

i understand why so many are totally disillusioned with the present bunch of politicians, but if you want to live in a democracy, i think you have an obligation to vote

goldfinger - 15 May 2014 13:06 - 40761 of 81564

Yep and I agree. Well said shortie.

Id like to see a Tory party with Mike Portilio as the leader backed by Ken Clarke and John Redwood but unfortunately and I still havent got my head around this, we voted in a set of posh boys from Eton who havent the slighest clue how normal working people carry out their Lifes.

Its a silly position we are in, although I note Camoron didnt win the last G/election and wont win the upcoming one either so their is light at the end of the tunnel.
