Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

radio transmission in Falklands .......from iii latest rumour

Just took a phone call from my mate at MPA...people in Stanley should verify this

there has just been a broadcast on the BFBS radio that there was a an evacuation on rig at weekend due to gas etc,( i think that has already been commented on) , also there was a statement have found significant amounts of oil 2km down.

Im in UK so maybe someone down there can verify story!

Exciting stuff

cynic - 23 Mar 2010 18:21 - 4076 of 6492

jkd - 23 Mar 2010 18:56 - 4077 of 6492

It could be gas above a crude accumulation....quite common in oil strikes....

Proselenes - 24 Mar 2010 06:00 - 4079 of 6492

I still stick with the official timeline of events from DES pre-drill. Taking into account a bit of bad weather and a few hiccups, and all being well some slow drilling due to encountering some zones of interest, a few days delay to the schedule should be about right, so from today up until I suggest next Wednesday (for 7 days delay) there could be news out any time. So now the excitement starts.

Certainly not a duster IMO, something of interest is there IMV.

just a couple of observations .....

DES has certainly been a dilatory in keeping the market informed
however
they have already said that there would be news by month end - i.e. a week today (wednesday)

while admitting my own constant vacillation, i think the odds still favour an indecisive first result
but
DES will also be aware of the need to keep everyone on board, so i would expect any rns to make as many positive noises as possible

Balerboy - 24 Mar 2010 08:28 - 4082 of 6492

they say an empty well makes most noise......have i got that right....

cynic - 24 Mar 2010 08:36 - 4083 of 6492

Good news on the way!!!

What have you heard Marky ?.

TheFrenchConnection - 25 Mar 2010 06:49 - 4087 of 6492

much as i hate to agree with cynic{ only jesting C } l have a gut feeling samples being analyised are proving very difficult to interpret and indeed any RNS will put as positive a slant on affairs as is possible as half the investing community and their dogs appear to have a position /...not suggesting for a second it has much bearing on this well, but does it not seem a little strange that CEO lan Duncan sold 210,000 shares @ 98P a few days before rig arrived ?

Balerboy - 25 Mar 2010 08:14 - 4088 of 6492

This dogs position is very little in RKH just incase there's a small profit to be made.

Down now....hey !...steady...no funny ideas...the sp will just not get going...

TheFrenchConnection - 25 Mar 2010 14:17 - 4092 of 6492

personally l can wait for RNS ......day trading this has been most fiscally rewarding - juste have to be a little cautious a negative RNS doesnt come out of the blue ( as they always do ! ) while holding ....

ptholden - 26 Mar 2010 00:18 - 4093 of 6492

Yep, about a 2p range today TFC, you must have made a fortune!

Seriously though, I find the lack of any SP impetus in either direction somewhat odd, especially in view of the rumours that are currently circulating. Obviously rumuors are exactly that and not to be relied upon, however, the thread in the nut house is unusually quite informative.

I'm sure Marky has more 'facts' than I, but it seems the drill has hit Liz and there has been a kick back (cause unknown, gas/oil or water). Lots of talk about testing, pipes, mud etc, but nothing you could hang your hat on. If one of the posters on the asylum can be believed the locals with a financial interest are getting quite excited.

Whilst I have my own financial interest, I'm looking forward to the RNS, if for no other reason just to find out how much of the information jigsaw that has been pieced togther is actually correct, fascinating stuff.

jkd - 26 Mar 2010 00:48 - 4094 of 6492

pth
i am not a holder but i have to agree with you. it is fascinating stuff.
good luck to you all.
