Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

markymar - 03 Dec 2003 11:36

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

much as i hate to agree with cynic{ only jesting C } l have a gut feeling samples being analyised are proving very difficult to interpret and indeed any RNS will put as positive a slant on affairs as is possible as half the investing community and their dogs appear to have a position /...not suggesting for a second it has much bearing on this well, but does it not seem a little strange that CEO lan Duncan sold 210,000 shares @ 98P a few days before rig arrived ?

Balerboy - 25 Mar 2010 08:14 - 4088 of 6492

This dogs position is very little in RKH just incase there's a small profit to be made.

personally l can wait for RNS ......day trading this has been most fiscally rewarding - juste have to be a little cautious a negative RNS doesnt come out of the blue ( as they always do ! ) while holding ....

Yep, about a 2p range today TFC, you must have made a fortune!

Seriously though, I find the lack of any SP impetus in either direction somewhat odd, especially in view of the rumours that are currently circulating. Obviously rumuors are exactly that and not to be relied upon, however, the thread in the nut house is unusually quite informative.

I'm sure Marky has more 'facts' than I, but it seems the drill has hit Liz and there has been a kick back (cause unknown, gas/oil or water). Lots of talk about testing, pipes, mud etc, but nothing you could hang your hat on. If one of the posters on the asylum can be believed the locals with a financial interest are getting quite excited.

Whilst I have my own financial interest, I'm looking forward to the RNS, if for no other reason just to find out how much of the information jigsaw that has been pieced togther is actually correct, fascinating stuff.

Bennies? I for one find the use of that name objectionable.

I lived there; the use of the name shows just how little you know the Islanders themselves.

I still have close friends living in Stanley and in Camp - and I don't mean the isolationist experience of Mount Pleasant.

avsec, lighten up, it was a joke, how about Stills instead? However, to protect your sensitivities I have removed the reference.

Incidentally, I know quite a bit about the FIs and the inhabitants.

Well it looks like next week will be incredible...with results from drilling from this lot, Aminex (TLW), possibly Sterling and Heritage, Gulf keystone might follow as well....(posted also on SEY).

HARRYCAT - 26 Mar 2010 11:01 - 4098 of 6492

From another BB, reliability & accuracy unknown:
"Desire results announcement next week. Steve Massam who works for BUCHANAN communications, the company which handles publicity for Desire Petroleum, yesterday announced that a statement regarding the drilling of the Liz prospect would be issued by Wednesday."

Well the sp might react beforehand as leaks to certain elements always happens, I'd be surprised if nothing gets out !...

cynic - 26 Mar 2010 14:48 - 4100 of 6492

of course wednesday (31st) as DES has pretty much telegraphed that

Media report out in the Sunday Times.

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/natural_resources/article7078788.ece

Very confusing as it says its a flop and yet later says "still drilling" but claims "non commercial" but only from "sources".

I suggest all DES shareholders contact DES with copies to the FSA, Broker and AIM regulators demanding a clarification prior to market opening, or a susepension of the stock pending clarification of this media speculation.

To be clear, if the media article is correct 100% then I have no problem with it, however if any part of it is wrong then I have a big problem with it as it is akin to market manipulation if any information is wrong in it.

I just do not understand why he says its a flop but then says "they are still drilling".

So why does he say its a flop and then say they are still drilling ?

Unless he means that LIZ has had oil shows but not commercial, and now they are drilling down into BETH ????????

It was always stated that either LIZ or BETH could have loads of oil, but NOT BOTH.

But if that is the case then his report is written in a very bad way, which means its imperative the company clarify whats going on before the market opens.

mitzy - 28 Mar 2010 09:16 - 4105 of 6492

I am negative about DS's prospects.

cynic - 28 Mar 2010 09:42 - 4106 of 6492

i rather think this report is accurate
