OIL TO BOUNCE BP BACK (BP.)

l2e - 30 Apr 2003 07:12

BP dissapointed private investors as the share price slid even though a
Massive 136 percent jump in profits were recorded for the last quarter.
This was already expected and comments from Lord Browne saying falls in oil expected have brought also helped the stock down.
He says can stand oil price even below $16 pb
The hostage situation in Nigeria getting bad maybe BP putting on some weight today?
Locals want enviroment cleaned up and profits shared.
Any chance?

Skin, if you see this, perhaps you can help, seeing
that you seem to be able to dig up all sorts of images
and cartoons by snapping your fingers or chanting abracadabra!

Some years ago, there was a cartoon of Blair riding
piggyback on the back of Bush on the site over the road.
Perhaps, you are familiar with it! Here's another opportunity
to shout 'eureka'!

Plaintiffs, BP urge judge to approve $7.8 billion spill settlement

NEW ORLEANS | Fri Nov 9, 2012 3:27am GMT
(Reuters) - BP Plc and lawyers representing over 100,000 individuals and businesses claiming economic and medical damages from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill on Thursday urged a U.S. judge to approve a proposed $7.8 billion (4.9 billion pounds) class-action settlement.

U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier initially approved the deal in May, but called the "fairness hearing" to weigh objections from about 13,000 claimants challenging the settlement to resolve some of BP's liability for the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history.

BP still faces civil and potential criminal liability charges brought by the U.S. government and U.S. states.

Barbier did not issue a final ruling at Thursday's hearing in a New Orleans court, but he appears poised to grant final approval to the deal in the coming days, legal experts said.

TNK-BP to secure $31 billion long-term Russian gas deals

MOSCOW | Mon Nov 12, 2012 1:41pm GMT

(Reuters) - Two Russian energy companies controlled by billionaire Viktor Vekselberg's KES are close to signing long-term gas purchasing deals worth up to $31 billion with crude producer TNK-BP.

The deals will further undermine the position of Gazprom, Russia's top gas producer, in the domestic market. Gazprom has been losing share to rivals such as Rosneft, which is buying TNK-BP for $55 billion.

The boards of power companies, TGK-7 and TGK-9, controlled by KES Holding, recommended their shareholders approve the deals to buy gas from TNK-BP.

Re: proposed resolution of US claims

Statement about proposed resolutions of US federal government criminal and SEC claims against BP in connection with
the Deepwater Horizon incident

BP confirms that it is in advanced discussions with the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding proposed resolutions of all US federal government criminal and SEC claims against BP in connection with the Deepwater Horizon incident. No final agreements have yet been reached and any resolutions, if agreed, would be subject to federal court approvals in the United States.

The proposed resolutions are not expected to cover federal civil claims, including Clean Water Act claims, federal and state Natural Resource Damages claims; private civil claims in MDL 2179 that were not covered by the PSC settlement, private securities claims pending in MDL 2185 or state economic loss claims.

A further announcement will be made if and when final agreements are reached. Until final agreements are reached, there can be no certainty any such resolutions will be entered into.

BP to pay record fine, admit criminal misconduct in 2010 spill - sources

HOUSTON/WASHINGTON | Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:24am GMT

(Reuters) - BP Plc is expected to pay a record criminal penalty and plead guilty to criminal misconduct in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster through a plea agreement it has reached with the U.S. Department of Justice that may be announced as soon as Thursday, according to sources familiar with discussions.

Three sources, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said BP would plead guilty in exchange for a waiver of future prosecution on the charges.

One of the sources did not disclose the amount of BP's payment, but said it would be the largest criminal penalty in U.S. history. That record is now held by Pfizer Inc, which paid a $1.3 billion criminal fine in 2009 for marketing fraud related to its Bextra pain medicine.

US Govt Settlement

· Resolution of all criminal claims with Department of Justice includes $4 billion
paid in installments over a period of five years

· Resolution of all securities claims with Securities and Exchange Commission includes $525 million paid in installments over a period of three years

· Existing $38.1 billion charge against income to increase by approximately $3.85 billion

· BP is prepared to vigorously defend itself against remaining civil claims
