I started with Firefox and do like it. However, I do run my machine's activities on the Internet from 'History' quite a lot and was disappointed to find that History for Firefox doesn't include History for IE6 and vice-versa.

I had just about concluded how you just have to make a clean break and decide to use one or the other.....so....which one? Hmmm?

.....and then along comes IE7.

Looks very much like Firefox and is pretty, but it has trouble loading some pages and seems to have to learn each page.

It also validates your version of Windows, so those with hooky copies beware!

And don't forget that Opera is now free and, IMHO, is a very good browser indeed. Its tabs occupy less screen real estate than Firefox. And I do like the way Opera remembers where you were on various sites . . .

i have an old laser printer HP L4 i want to use on another PC,
could someone please tell me how to burn a copy of the drivers that i have so i can load them on the other PC,
tryed downloading from HP site but dont work,

I'd also endorse Opera. I met it in my Psion 5 days as a memory economic browser. And then introduced it to my PC's as Netscape got subsumed in its own size.

My one concern, and this could be because I have not the right plug-ins, is that it does stumble on some interactive sites such as PayPal. I seem to remember that it did not like the Level Two screens supplied by those other guys across the road.

It also needs third party software if you want to introduce your bookmarks from something like IE - but there are pointers within Opera as to what is on offer.

scussy, it should work easily even with the drivers provided with Windows. Are you connecting it via the parallel socket? When you say it doesn't work, what happens?

Scussy, I've an old laserjet 6p which I connected up via the parallel printer port and it was recognised by XP straight away without installing any printer drivers.

when i used it on my PC,win XP picked up the printer and drivers and the printer worked ok,
this is not happening to my DADs pc the only diferance is i am on XP PRO and he has XP HOME,
yes using the parallel socket,i can see the printer in the control panel,it just don't want to print.

Double click on his printer and make sure there's nothing stuck in the print queue - if there is delete it.

I used XP home and it was picked up OK.

Go into printer properties and check that the options have been set ok, particularly the port as LPT1, and that the printer queue isn't paused. Presumably you've checked the printer is actually showing its ready light and not jammed etc...

Just spotted that they have launched a version for the Pocket PC.

I'm damned if I can get it to load.

nothing in print queue and is not paused,printer set as devault and to port LP1,
printer is switched on and there is no jam, iam scratching my head on this one,

is winamp still the best for sound playing CD's.

What does it do when you print to it? If it doesn't give an error as such you ought to be able to open the print queue before sending something to it and see it spooling and then printing to it in the queue window. If you can see it printing and the ready light on the printer isn't blinking on and off, then I would say the likely suspects are either a duff cable (or badly inserted at either end) or a duff motherboard.

I hadn't noticed the Pocket PC version of Opera -- we're doing quite a lot of work on Pocket PC at the moment on another project -- I'll see if I can check out Opera on there.

Opera. I cannot even understand how to instal it on my Asus 716.

But having read of all the problems people are having on the Opera support forum I probably should feel grateful.

I am trying to set up a wifi network with USB wifi devices for 2 PCs running W XP Home edition. The network seems OK but the extra PC connected to the host does not get web pages. The device status shows a shared internet connection (ICS) and packets being sent and received to and from the 2PCs and the internet connecftion.

Any ideas?

H: Are you using two machines to a wireless hub or attemptng to cascade one PC from another?
