Go into printer properties and check that the options have been set ok, particularly the port as LPT1, and that the printer queue isn't paused. Presumably you've checked the printer is actually showing its ready light and not jammed etc...

"I'd also endorse Opera"
Just spotted that they have launched a version for the Pocket PC.
I'm damned if I can get it to load.

What does it do when you print to it? If it doesn't give an error as such you ought to be able to open the print queue before sending something to it and see it spooling and then printing to it in the queue window. If you can see it printing and the ready light on the printer isn't blinking on and off, then I would say the likely suspects are either a duff cable (or badly inserted at either end) or a duff motherboard.

MM,
I'm still using an A5 Desk Diary as my Personal Organiser. At least I can read what it says.

My wife knows where we are going and what we are doing, so I always ask her.

MM.
Opera. I cannot even understand how to instal it on my Asus 716.
But having read of all the problems people are having on the Opera support forum I probably should feel grateful.

I am trying to set up a wifi network with USB wifi devices for 2 PCs running W XP Home edition. The network seems OK but the extra PC connected to the host does not get web pages. The device status shows a shared internet connection (ICS) and packets being sent and received to and from the 2PCs and the internet connecftion.
Any ideas?

Haystack, I think ICS tries to be a DHCP server, make sure DHCP IP assignment is enabled in the other PC if you're just connecting them together, or if you're using a wireless router disable the DHCP server in the router.

It is just two USB wireless network adaptors with the internet connected one acting as an access point. It is just one PC from another. The slave PC shows the complete network in its status and shows the packets coming and going to and from the three parts (internet, host and slave). Networking is the one area of IT that I have missed. I am amazed that I have got it working this much.

Type IPCONFIG in a DOS window in each PC and see what comes out, post if you want...

Ah just had an idea, are you running a firewall on the ICS PC in which case you'll need to open it to traffic from the other PC.

Haystack,
My nephew tried to do exactly the same thing last week, except with a crossover ethernet cable rather than wireless.
He had awful problems accessing the shared folders on either machine and my husband spent a lot of time trying to help him with it.
To resolve it, they had to change the TCP/IP settings which had initially been set by DHCP along the lines of Kayak's comments. It now works fine.

My network has gone back a step. I have done something to it and now the client PC does not see the shared connection.

Normally I find that the IPCONFIG thing helps a lot...

Loooking for a new 17" tft monitor anyone seen any good deals or can recommend a good model/make to look for around the 150 mark as I might want two, to add to the two I already have ;-)
Just watched the Gadetshow on ch5, been thinking about wireless connection but the show has put me right off, as it seems anyone can hack into your computer sitting outside using a laptop, How can I stop them doing this?
