THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

No, it's not a year away Haystack.

We don't have a year...your faith in the present leadership is blind to the point of stupididity.

Cameron cannot win, that's the long and the short of it.

No one trusts him (except you) and that wont wash even with a lifelong tory voter (me)

The real problem is that none of the mainstream parties are listening to the bloke on the street, and the bloke on the street has finally woke up...hence UKIP, cos no one else is listening.

Haystack - 25 May 2014 01:03 - 41383 of 81564

But voting for UKIP won't gain you anything.

cynic - 25 May 2014 09:05 - 41384 of 81564

you are a silly billy sticks old chap!
by midnight, i'ld been fast asleep for hours ..... s usual, can't be bothered to go back through all the predictable tripe you will no have posted during the evening

=============

ukip
certainly the great unknown for both labour and conservatives
neither can work out quite how to tackle this "attack", though i would have thought "ukip mentality" was more aligned to conservative (attempted) policies on both eu and immigration, not least because labour look to have no inclination to act on either

i thought it was particularly interesting in ashcroft's poll yesterday that only 3 in 10 would rather see EM than DC in Number 10
i can't see that DC inspires greatly, so what does that say about EM (and the labour party by implication)?

MaxK - 25 May 2014 09:21 - 41385 of 81564

And the torygraph hits the nail on the head.

MaxK - 25 May 2014 09:21 - 41386 of 81564

below is of course what makes everyone's blood boil and highlights exactly why the benefits system needs drastic overhaul .... quite how that is achieved while being pilloried from left and right and the bleeding heart brigade is another matter

A couple who get paid £38,000 a year in benefits and tax credits snapped this selfie while enjoying a £5,000 holiday at the taxpayers' expense.
Cheryl Prudham, 32, and husband Robert, 29, have whisked their nine children off for an all-inclusive holiday in Menorca and hope to return next year to buy a villa.
They also said they were not bothered if they were fined up to £800 for taking their kids out of school during term-time for the fornight break.

Philippines is the best market to invest in , lower labour cost then China & India , young well educated workforce who all speak English [ Indian call centre workers have a problem with their accent ] , and Thailand will see foreign companys moving to the Philippines due to the unrest over there.

Vince Cable would be even worse for the Libs. He is far too mouthy.

cynic - 25 May 2014 13:44 - 41394 of 81564

lib/dems are no different from the other two parties - no obvious leaders or even creditworthy NCOs

at least farage (and david miliband) have charisma and presentation

MaxK - 25 May 2014 14:25 - 41395 of 81564

I wonder what influence (if any) this little broken promise had to do with the lib/dim meltdown?

Haystack - 25 May 2014 14:37 - 41396 of 81564

Not a promise of much importance. Fees needed to rise and would have done whoever won the election.

MaxK - 25 May 2014 14:46 - 41397 of 81564

I disagree, a promise is a promise, and not something to be disregarded when it suits.

EXCLUSIVE: 'We were WRONG, we are SORRY' Senior Labour MP pens open letter to Ukip voters

ONE of Labour's most senior figures has written an open letter to Ukip supporters today, apologising for the party's previous views on immigration concerns and urging them to "keep an open mind".

The Labour Party has changed. We know we made mistakes. We're determined to put them right.

Sadiq Khan

An Open Letter to Ukip supporters

I know you are fed up with politics as usual. I get that you are angry at the political parties. I understand you feel that successive Governments have done too little to help you.

Too many people have struggled for far too long. Too little of the benefits of growth have gone to working people and too much to the very wealthiest.

Wages have barely increased whilst the cost of everything - from housing to energy and food - has rocketed.

And in too many places immigration has driven down local wages.

I understand why people think that politicians do little to help them.

The expenses scandal and sleaze has broken trust.

There aren’t enough politicians brave enough to stand up to vested interests - the banks, businesses paying below a decent wage or bad landlords.

And politicians seem to speak a different language.

But the Labour Party has changed. We know we made mistakes. We're determined to put them right.

Take immigration. In the past, we were too quick to dismiss concerns about immigration, or even worse - accused people of prejudice.

We all remember Gillian Duffy. We were wrong. We are sorry.

So what are we offering now? Learning the English language will be a priority.

We will change the rules on child benefit - so that it's no longer paid to children outside of this country.

We will crack down on businesses that pay below the minimum wage and ensure local wages are not undercut.

And companies that employ people from outside the EU will be forced to offer apprenticeships to local young people.

But it's not just immigration. We will close the gap between what you earn and what you spend.

We will stop hard working people from being ripped off in our economy.

We will make renting more affordable and scrap extortionate letting agency fees.

On our watch, the minimum wage will be raised and we will promote a higher living wage for all. Energy prices will be frozen.

It is always easier to lose someone's trust than to win it back.

But over the next year we will do everything to prove that we are on your side.

We will work to improve your local community and stand up alongside you against the vested interests that make life harder. All we ask is that you keep an open-mind.

Sadiq Khan is Shadow Justice Secretary and Shadow London Minister.

Hi Max, trouble with Hays is hes stuck in his ways.

Hes a decent chap really and i like reading his posts especially the ones relating to his earlier life eg, jew bloke who set Tesco up, forgoten his name . Cohen thats it Jack Cohen.

He just doesnt seem capable of moving from his beliefs, but then dont forget he is probably the oldest one of us posting here which in my book is an admirable plus.

Its improving , the only way to get things done is to pay for express service , otherwise it takes to long, or if you know friends who know friends that belongs to the same Church. We had our building permit go from 17th in line to the top.
