Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?
If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?
Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?
What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Any ideas of what happens in Gaza after a Hosni Mubarak capitulates.
Interesting to see the beginning of the disintegration of previous American foreign policy and its effects on that area.

Not surprising that Abbas and the PA have offered their support to Mubarak. They are another US puppet like Egypt. The US is responsible for keeping a dictator in office to support their policies in the ME, chiefly that of supporting Israel. The average Egyptian is not in favour of support for Israel. hopefully that might change if there is a major change in government. It was intersting watching numerous US commentators on CNN, Fox yesterday. They all said that Israel is the country that needs to be worried about the current situation.
This is intereseting from an Israeli newspaper.
http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/israel-urges-world-to-curb-criticism-of-egypt-s-mubarak-1.340238
"Israel called on the United States and a number of European countries over the weekend to curb their criticism of President Hosni Mubarak to preserve stability in the region."
"The peace between Israel and Egypt has lasted for more than three decades and our objective is to ensure that these relations will continue to exist," Netanyahu told his ministers. "We are closely monitoring events in Egypt and the region and are making efforts to preserve its security and stability."

There's nothing you'd love more (apart form nuclear strikes on Israel and the killing of Jews everywhere) than Egypt declaring war against Israel yet again.
Peace has to come from both sides making compromises based on growth of trust, and yet the hatred filled hay parrot et al want to see the end of the PA in the West Bank, even though the latter clearly recognise the need to compromise.

ITLOB - BOTH sides need to compromise and significantly at that ..... unfortunately, even if much is going on behind the scenes (quite likely), there are a variety of outside parties pulling strings for whom a sustainable peace in the region would NOT be a satisfactory outcome

Hays,
Agreed with most of your evaluation.

cynic,
Agreed.
I don't think Netanyahu and certainly not Liebermann have the statesmanship or foresight that Begin had when he made peace with a willing Egypt and Jordan.
Of course it was easier then as Israel didn't have a hostile entity intermingled on its borders as with the West Bank. Personally I'm very hopeful having seen the willingness of the current Abbas administration to face reality. If that can be maintained and if the current attempts to gain international recognition proceed moderately successfully then there is more pressure on the current Israeli government to compromise more. Maybe even that Palestinian attempt at a peaceful political and diplomatic campaign will engender a growing sense of trust in the Israeli body politic and the electorate.

one can live in hope even if not great expectation, though it eventually came to pass in Ireland, despite some pretty appalling treatment to the locals going back to mediaeval days - Henry V and prob earlier if i remember my history correctly
