How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Dil

Dil - 14 Aug 2005 21:40 - 4157 of 10502

The total of my P&L is different to the individual totals , its the individual totals that are wrong so no monetary effect.

Fundamentalist - 14 Aug 2005 21:48 - 4158 of 10502

Dil

is the difference the commission?

Have backed mickleson in the golf at 1.86 - cant see him losing from here

Fundamentalist - 14 Aug 2005 22:00 - 4159 of 10502

Green at 1.58, will go back in if he gets nearer to 2s again

Scripophilist - 14 Aug 2005 22:09 - 4160 of 10502

Arb available on The Ashes 2005 - Series Score market.

Been trading most of this evening below 100%, Currently 99.7% but if you put a couple of open orders in you will still do OK.

Fundamentalist - 14 Aug 2005 22:23 - 4161 of 10502

all going pear shaped for mickleson - looks like the back nine could be interesting

bakko - 14 Aug 2005 22:23 - 4162 of 10502

Evening All

Greened up on Nadal/Agassi game a while back with Nadal winning yet another tournament only a few moments ago.

Not checked out the golf but will take a look now

Fundamentalist - 14 Aug 2005 22:28 - 4163 of 10502

Mickleson just gone from 2.2 to 1.7 in seconds as he makes great up and down and elkington fails to do the same

Scripophilist - 14 Aug 2005 22:29 - 4164 of 10502

There was a high street bookie offering refunds on all bets if Mickleson wins. Bet they are sweating it at the moment!

bakko - 14 Aug 2005 22:51 - 4165 of 10502

Mickelson seems to have lost his bottle

Scripophilist - 14 Aug 2005 22:56 - 4166 of 10502

He has always been called a choker. Still a great player though.

Scripophilist - 14 Aug 2005 23:32 - 4167 of 10502

Maybe he is about to lose the choker tag as well! LOL!

Fundamentalist - 14 Aug 2005 23:57 - 4168 of 10502

AdieH - 15 Aug 2005 10:11 - 4169 of 10502

sealed - 15 Aug 2005 10:25 - 4170 of 10502

My p&l is also wrong.
I blame 2 people. Crespo & me for being greedy and not greening up ;~)

Scripophilist - 15 Aug 2005 11:18 - 4171 of 10502

LOL!

bakko - 15 Aug 2005 11:52 - 4172 of 10502

I had a very narrow escape on the Wigan v Chealsea game.

Took a chance and backed the draw midway through the 2nd half when odds were at 2s. Odds shortened very quickly and greened up at under 1.05, seconds before Crespo's goal.

Been caught out by greed and last minute goals far too many times!

Harlosh - 15 Aug 2005 12:40 - 4173 of 10502

Perhaps it was inspired timing Bak.

Hope you are well. We'll have to get together sometime soon when the holiday and building season is over.

bakko - 15 Aug 2005 12:53 - 4174 of 10502

John, Hope you're fully recovered from your recent illness.

Looking forward to another outing.
