Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

"In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Syrian President Bashar Assad suggested that the pressure he will face from the Syrian people to institute reforms will be less than that faced by embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak because he has not pursued close diplomatic relations with the U.S. and Israel, a position that he said puts Arab leaders at odds with their citizens."

This is part of the problem with Egypt. The peace treaty with Israel was not done willingly by Egypt. It was done willingly by Egypt's rulers.

Abbas in the West Bank should be gone soon as well.

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 16:43 - 4168 of 6906

you mean like UK signing up to the Treaty of Rome? ..... so if you change the gov't previously ratified treaties are invalid? .... an interesting thought (sorry, you don't do that too well, so try statement) which i'm sure will be latched onto throughout the world

"There's nothing you'd love more (apart form nuclear strikes on Israel and the killing of Jews everywhere) than Egypt declaring war against Israel yet again."

Once again you relate this to Jews and some sort of hatred towards them. This is not the case. There is no sign that Arabs hate Jews or that other peoppe opposed to Israel hate Jews. They hate the state of Israel and how it behaves. Removing allies of Israel such as Egypt may make Israel behave better (admitedly very unlikely though).

Removing anybody who disagrees with the parrot and his partner would make all the people here who laugh at both of you behave better.

Things are reaching a sad state when the parrot starts copy and pasting what I've said LOL !

Ya wohl, herr hayes !
Removing ze allies of France would make the Britishers behave better.
Heil Hizbollah !
Heil Hamas !
Heil Hitler !
Heil Hayes !

The UK signed up to the Treaty of Rome and we had a referendum in 1975 on whether we should remain in the EU. The majorty voted for it. I would venture a guess that you might get a couple of percent only in a referendum in Egypt as to whether there should be a peace treaty with Israel.

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 17:04 - 4173 of 6906

we've had a couple of changes of gov't since then, so on your nutty logic, shouldn't we "go to the people" yet again on the Treaty of Rome? ..... there are several "fun acts" too of course, like getting public response to the return of capital punishment or better still for you and your ilk, the forced repatriation of most immigrants "legal" or not

In The Land of the B - 31 Jan 2011 17:07 - 4174 of 6906

Ah ! So the people of Egypt want an end to peace with Israel, huh? They prefer war?
All they want is peace and freedom and self expression and food and a better life for themselves and their children. Just like the vast majority of people in the world.

Of course hay parrot is becoming a crapper, oops cropper, when he makes assertions based on what he guesses for himself when he tries to take both his brain cells for an outing, rather than on what he finds on the web to copy and paste.

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 17:10 - 4175 of 6906

by the way, as you sit trumpeting in the comfort of your warm little home, hasn't your wife suggested that you show your proper support for the plight of the palestinians in gaza, by going to live there for at least the next 6/12 months ..... that way, you could put money with mouth and, i dare say, play "boys games" with bazookas or even just slinging stones at those beastly israelis or the questionably elected gov't puppets?

Haystack - 31 Jan 2011 17:10 - 4176 of 6906

I don't think that there is such an overwhelming majority of people against the EU or has ever been. In the case of Egypt it is inlikely that there has ever been any sizeable number of people in favour of cooperation with Israel. It really was a case of acting against the wishes of the people in a similar manner to the almost 30 years of dictatorship recently in Egypt.

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 17:12 - 4177 of 6906

i fear ITLOB, as i have posted earlier, that we shall see a repressive fundamentalist regime within say 5 years

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 17:14 - 4178 of 6906

and on what do you base your latest piece of erudition? ..... straw poll among your pals? .... an in-depth survey on the ground across egypt? ..... or perhaps because the travel was too much, just a good x-section survey on the streets of cairo?

Haystack - 31 Jan 2011 17:15 - 4179 of 6906

ITLOTB
It is not that the people of Egypt want war. They don't want to support Israel in its subjugation of the Palestinians. A change of gevernment in Egypt is not going to bring a war with Israel. They may, however, stop being the puppet of the US in supporting Israel's seige of Gaza and the mistreatment of Palestinians in the West Bank. I don't really understand why you relate this to hating Jews. I find it difficult to imagine why anyone would hate jews. It seems quite illogical.

cynic - 31 Jan 2011 17:21 - 4180 of 6906

i doubt very much if the average egyptian gives 2 piastres or even a minute's thought a week to their so-called brethren in gaza .... in fact, i'm not sure there is even much genetic relationship between the two

as ITLOB quite rightly says, the average egyptian just wants to be shot of the present regime which is seemingly much more corrupt than i realised, and a return (they hope!) to a democracy ..... for myself, i've found trading with egypt a damn sight safer than with the likes of kenya and a bundle of other "gems"

Mubarak may find it difficult to confront people if protests continue a couple of more days. Especially if fighters from Hezbollah get mixed with innocent protesters.

Haystack - 31 Jan 2011 19:27 - 4182 of 6906

Israel offered Egyptian intelligence director Omar Suleiman its readiness to help Egypt and carry out operations to quell the people's revolution and demanded him to prevent the alleged arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip.

Quds Press quoted the sources as affirming that Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday during a phone call with Suleiman, who was sworn in as vice president a couple of days ago, expressed his fears over the situation in Egypt and offered him intelligence and security services to end the protests.

Netanyahu also discussed with Suleiman ways to secure the borders with Israel and urged him not to hesitate to ask for Israel's help if the Egyptian regime felt any danger threatening its existence.
