ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

i'll take seo.

willfagg - 05 Oct 2004 11:42 - 420 of 5941

Ill go for SPS but as sandrew64 says i am not sure what the start price should be

willfagg - 05 Oct 2004 11:49 - 421 of 5941

Better make that SEY i think someone has claimed SPS - although i think i was quite an early champion of SPS

To be fair to everyone the starting price should be the current price when the stock code is posted....so Sharon and others please revisit your choices and post with Epic Code and today's price for Eric's table. Previous prices are not allowed.

By the way I agee with Sharon's comment's on the use of ASC, it really is simple to use and executes the orders well. Again it has low overheads and is going from strength to strength. As to whether EVIL has closed his short in the stock or indeed increased it, who knows. But a lower SP gives lot's of opportuntities to top up and enjoy the future gains when everyone scrambles to grab a piece of the action, and the SHORTS unwind. Looking at the technical picture I think the share price is consolidating at these levels and may do so for a while which will build a platform for a future bounce up. All good charts need to do this!!

I would not like anyone reading this post to get the wrong idea, but I have just been informed (a reliable source) that in today's SUN newspaper, ASOS has huge coverage in the womens' fashion section. Some 90% of the clothes can be ordered through ASOS...giving yet more exposure to the brand!

willfagg - 05 Oct 2004 16:15 - 425 of 5941

I just hope they do things in your size love!!!Of course i am not getting the wrong idea?

Kivver - 05 Oct 2004 16:38 - 426 of 5941

i did say kmr was a 2 year pick, if you want me to go for something quicker i would go cybit holdings (cyh). looking to double very soon.

willfagg - 05 Oct 2004 16:49 - 427 of 5941

I hope you are right about CYH but they have been a "talking horse" all year.Could be a long haul this one ....although i hope i am wrong

Kivver - 05 Oct 2004 16:51 - 428 of 5941

yes ive been holding for over a year now and little movement but i think will go up soon, and been adding a long the way, look what happened the last time the interims were announced.

johngtudor - 05 Oct 2004 17:06 - 429 of 5941

So to be clear...you can nominate any share you wish...the aim is that the 'nominated' share will double in price before ASC.

There are a number of views on whether or not ASC will double in price or how long it will take, but I think we have agreed amongst ourselves that we are looking at a run up in the share price sometime before Xmas, and then, if ASOS follows last year's news cycle, an announcement about Xmas trading and earnings...and then we have the Interims due. So that would take us through to 21st Feb or thereabouts, in 2005! All submissions for this challenge gratefully received!

Kivver - 05 Oct 2004 17:21 - 430 of 5941

ok thats clear i will stick with cyh then. kmr will not move much for at least a year imho.

sandrew64 - 05 Oct 2004 18:41 - 431 of 5941

I'm with PET with todays' closing price 124.5p.

EWRobson - 05 Oct 2004 23:40 - 432 of 5941

Super to have the nominations to the challenge. Following nominated to date. Suggest we keep list open until close of play Friday. will fagg: you nominated SEY because SPS was taken but still available if you want to switch. No nomination yet, ptholden - we need you as our official chart man! Could johngtudor continue mentor role?

company EPIC nom. by price, p no. shares (m) cap. (m)
ASOS ASC all 56 67.97 38.06
Petroceltic Int. PCI johngtudor 15 484.975 72.75
Yoomedia YOO EWRobson 22 125.538 27.62
Petrel Resources PET sandrew64 124.5 58.625 72.99
Sterling Energy SEY willfagg 17.25 822.712 141.92
Stanelco SEO bosley 4.5 78.225 3.52
Civilian Content CCN capa 16.25 41.883 6.81
cybit holdings CYH Kivver 1.82 988.952 18 00

Just to repeat the purpose. Its assumed all are in ASC and looking for a performance along the lines summarised well by johngtudor in 428. We are looking for shares which will emulate ASC to strengthen our portfolios. I will report progress on or about the first of the month. I will include an evaluation of the overall portfolio with equal investment in each share at the starting price. If good, it could be submitted to Shares; if not so good, we'll just use it as a learning curve!

I've included the cap.; clearly easier for the really low cap. shares to double but nothing wrong with that; perhaps easier for them to go belly up as well!

Roll up, folk, put your mouth where your money is!

Eric

willfagg - 05 Oct 2004 23:46 - 433 of 5941

ok i will stick with sps seeing as how i have said it will be the next asos( performance wise that is)To be ohnest i hope we all cross the line together as most of us hold several of the above...i think . I certainly do

EWRobson - 06 Oct 2004 09:56 - 434 of 5941

well done, willfagg, for the team ethic! Also for 'working' even later than me. Interesting that anticipated Xmas editorial for ASOS has already started. The negative comment pointed at ASOS that, because it is internet and start-up costs are not so significant, that it would be easy for competition to come in and 'do a Tony Blair', nees to be questioned. Tke key factors of customer and brand loyalty are not nearly so easy to achieve. ASOS have established a lead in a clear niche market and I suspect it would be an uphill struggle for anyone to make inroads. Management also clearly have flair, vital for this market - where are M&S? Christmas might come early!

YOO is a Play of the week in Shares and worth looking at (see bb)- mornings largest riser; EVO price target of 35p, likely to be revised upwards. You energy guys (includes gals) not having it all your own way! Mind, I have been sucked into PCI, PET and SEY. Not letting the ASC holding get any lower, though.

Eric

willfagg - 07 Oct 2004 10:00 - 436 of 5941
