THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Tories set to hold Newark

Monday, 2 June, 2014 in By-elections
Newark

By Lord Ashcroft

The Conservatives are on course to hold onto Newark in the by-election on Thursday, according to a poll I have conducted in the constituency. I found the Tories on 42%, with UKIP second on 27% and Labour third on 20%.

sangatte refugees
on The One Show this evening, there was an appalling left-wing bleeding-heart telling everyone what a terrible time these refugees were having, when all they wanted to do was to get to uk, which they saw as the Land of Gold

1) Who asked them (moroccan and algerian in the main i'ld guess) to sneak into france?

2) Why the hell should we in uk have any sympathy for what are clearly just economic refugees?

3) Why doesn't france look after its own problem, perhaps by booting them back whence they came?

this has to have been wonderful advertising for all standing to the the right of attila
is it any surprise that NF got voted massive power a week or so ago?

ExecLine - 02 Jun 2014 19:48 - 41810 of 81564

There are tons of UKIP voters, and I am one of them, who don't necessarily want us to come out of Europe. However, we do want a renegotiation on our Terms of Membership.

Damn it! The UK signed up to join the Common Market and not to have 75% of our Laws dictated to us by an unelected bureaucracy in Brussels.

Tony Blair has been speaking out very strongly for us to stay in. And he is probably right about it. But nevertheless, we do want a lot more say about the Terms.

Perhaps Cameron and the Tories would do better in the Polls if he were to speak and the Tories were to behave a lot more convincingly and openly about what it is, that they want to change. Until they do so, what they do say, is just so much rhetoric and it's unconvincing because we've heard it all before.

Haystack - 02 Jun 2014 19:57 - 41811 of 81564

I agree. A common market is what we want and not a United States of Europe. Voting for UKIP will get you none of what you want.

ExecLine - 02 Jun 2014 21:49 - 41812 of 81564

There's voting for UKIP - Done. And it did get me what I wanted.

And voting for UKIP - Not done. And no intention of doing it either because I agree with you.

MaxK - 02 Jun 2014 21:50 - 41813 of 81564

Voting Nu Tory (Dave style) wont get it either!

good luck chris .... where's the course?
i'm afraid these juniors can be a bit hot, but age and guile will often prevail

cynic - 03 Jun 2014 08:22 - 41819 of 81564

stan - it matters not what the programme; the message being put across by this woman was loud and clear - and heavily biased

cynic - 03 Jun 2014 08:39 - 41820 of 81564

FT says absolutely correctly .....

Block Juncker to save European democracy
You end up with the absurd situation in which voters are said to have ‘chosen’ a leader they have never heard of

and of course that is one of the major problems with the eu parliament and commission .... it is correctly (i think) seen as a bloated, self-serving gravy train with no accountability to the electorate whatsoever - except of course, these top geezers were never elected to their posts other than by their peers

jimmy b - 03 Jun 2014 09:18 - 41821 of 81564

Thats exactly what Farage was saying in his "we didn't elect you we don't want you " speech to Van Rompuy . . I had to go and check his name because i don't know any of them as i don't think any of us do..

Should make George and Wavey Dave's day.

Interesting report showing up what the cons don't want the public to think about!

cynic - 03 Jun 2014 10:11 - 41824 of 81564

the european commission should mind its own f'ing business with regards to uk's domestic affairs and pay considerably more attention to the blatant extravagance, fraud and corruption in its own ranks

Why does this cartoon remind me of Manuel.

Manuel,

Talking about Sangatte,

Why and how did some of your ancestors get into the UK?

It seems like some like drawing the draw bridge when they are safe!
