* M0NEY-AM G0LF DAY EVENT: 27 HOLES, INCL. SUSTENANCE & PRIZES (IN ADDITION TO M0NEY-AM SPONSORED PRIZES!) on: -
THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *
So several months have passed... Based on the success of last Summer's Event at Longcliffe G.C., a few of you have asked me to take over the reigns from PTH and organise another G0LF M0NEY-AM DAY again based in the MIDLANDS. This is fairEST to the majority coming from all over the UK! From initial feedback (reflecting on 2005 36-Hole hot mid-Summer's day!), the popular view for a 2006 Event has been agreed, as follows: -
* Tea/Coffee on arrival.
* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.
(** ADDITIONAL PRIZES from our generous SPONSORS include: - 3 months worth of Shares Magazine sent to the homes of EACH COMPETITOR every week. The Overall Winner will get The Money-AM Annual Golf Challenge Cup to keep for good plus 1 year's worth of Money-AM Level 2 service worth 357.50 + Vat. The Runner-Up and Third Placed Winners will each get a medal to keep plus 6 months' level 2.)
Venue: - H0RSLEY L0DGE G.C., Belper, Derbyshire (Championship Meadowland Course with American-type Greens). Refreshments will be in the On-Site Kingfisher Restaurant. Entry Fee is: - 60 per Competitor which will cover all of the above ** plus enough to buy some additional golfing prizes.

Actually, Isaacs, D Rutherford received a wooden tee (instead) and took it on the chin, in good spirit, like a man! BTW David actually co-won the morning 9-Holes 4BBB partnering Fliper and everyone came home with a golfing prize, incl. MG whos "game of 2 halves" was just enough to edge him into 9th. place!

Markus and money am, Thank you for a great day!
The fellowship and location were marvellous and being the only Scot there and taking the money along with Flipper in the morning comp. I did not think it wise to push my luck in the afternoon! I am having a problem getting the tee engraved!

Many thanks to Markus and MoneyAM for a great day. Markus didn't fall asleep on the job once (mind it was a different matter next day) and did a fabulous organisational job. The course was superb - mind the first two should be penalised three shots as members which would allow yours truly to retain his crown; what was that about a difficult last 6 - actually my best 6. In the end, I admit, the best guys on the day were first and second and you can't really argue with that.
Now rumour has it that Bob Colby might succumb to arm twisting to host next year's event at St Albans. The relatively lazy southerners might be moved to join in. Ruthrford from Glasgow and self from Northumberland via Kent have set the example. If you speak to Bob, don't forget to congratulate him on his fabulous shot to win nearest the pin.

Markus , well done for running the 5th major . Everybody had a great day, pefect course and great food all day . All the talk was about the 17th hole which proved to be a major factor in the final result . fliper in the water , markus in the water two times . mg took photos , as the drama unfolded (hope to see them soon ) but the shark played well and could have been the winner .

Thanks for your kind words, guys. But just one point of correction, Eric - Fliper is NOT a member of HL (he plays at Allestree Park G.C.) despite having played the course many, many times over the years - although granted, he does enjoy playing rights there because of his job.
Bob, Howzabout organising another one for the Autumn? Once a year is not enough - and none of us are getting any younger, are we? :o) Hey, this would mean you can get to see Chockie a lot more in future!
Fliper, good luck in Sunday's Mens Open, btw - hope to take token of revenge and beat your score, later in the day!

Hey! Must put a stop to this anti-shark fixation. The shark is very generous, very skilled, very gifted in organisational skills. A hard act to follow!

MG, I was very careful to avoid the cams when Ms. MAM was chocking all the prize winners (no tongues!). Anyway need to proof-read pics first before you post otherwise lawyers will be contacted. BTW 12-month ban for using a mobile on course, you should know that!
PTH, it's called a "bad shot". I played 2 of such things on 17 c.t. Fliper's 1 in the agua. So be it, **** happens: we are not professionals, after all. Anyway my 2nd. pos. for the 2nd. year running hardly deems me a "bottler", does it?
Thanks, M/AM, for very generous sponsorship to supplement my own "golfing" prizes - I fulfilled my goal that everyone went home happy with a great day and everyone took a golfing prize home with them.
Trust all players enjoyed the day as much as I did, from start to finish? Next time, it's someone else's turn to host the Event.....

Mark,
No pleasing some people, I was being quite complimentary. Actually, I thought coming fourth can be classified as quite close to the top three, in fact you can't be any closer to the top three without being in it!!
Why you keep banging on about last year is beyond me, but I guess you still take some pleasure from it.
And yes you bottled it. Shark - No ; Little stickleback - Yes :-))

Eric didn't mind - he seemed to have something else on his mind
Little rascal
The winner kept his eyes closed all the time - what a good boy
I'm holding back the indecent ones - it's not that kind of Bulletin Board - is it??
BTW - thanks to Money AM for their generosity, Marcus for doing all the organising and everyone else who turned up for a luvverly day.
Oh - and thanks to my mum - without whom it would have been very difficult to accept next but last place. She taught me to say "am I bovvered, do I look bovvered .............."
mg
(My mum always said that it is not the winning it's the taking part that counts ...... bugger, damn, blast)

MG wish my Mum had told me that. I am still trying to get the wooden spoon engraved (tee). Great pictures and could be worth a few dollars in years to come.

Well done Marcus and MAM for a very well organised "thrash".
I will organise the next venue subject to the following criteria:-
a) Near to motorways, railway stations etc.
b) Hotel Accommodation within 457.2 metres
c) Course not too hilly
d) Sam Ryder must have been club captain at least 3 times.
e) Within a 5 min drive of my house
As you can imagine, I had a long list of clubs to evaluate. However, I am pleased to inform you all, that as a result of many minutes of deliberation, my committee have decided that Verulam GC, St. Albans is a suitable venue.
Initial dates available are Mon 4th June,Thurs 31st May, Tues 22 & 29th May. Budgetary costs are 65 a head for Mondays and 70 for others. Costs cover coffee, bacon rolls, sandwiches and 3 course meal in the evening, 9 hole am and 18 hole pm comps. The cost may be negotiated a little lower but dont bank on it.
Any comments on provisional dates etc. are welcome. My MAM mailbox is open

Does the above include "golfing" prizes, as well, Bob? Anyway start negotiating!!
What about playing the Event this Autumn instead? The Shark wants revenge over Fliper, sooner rather than later.....
I can't wait another 12 months! :o)
